Description

Executed by pressing all three punch buttons (since Street Fighter II': Hyper Fighting), Vega performs a backflip. During the backflip, Vega is invincible to all attacks.

In Street Fighter II': Champion Edition, the move is executed by quickly double-tapping backward.

Introduced in Super Street Fighter II, a second version of the Back Slash, which is quicker and covers a shorter distance, is executed by pressing all three kick buttons.

In Street Fighter V, the input for this move is pressing forward and all three punches after blocking an attack. For the Short Backslash, the input is pressing forward and all three kicks after blocking an attack.

Tactics

Backslash

Back Slash can be used to avoid attacks and escape unfavorable situations. However, players should be careful in their use of the move and not become predictable, as they can be heavily punished during the move's recovery animation.

In Street Fighter V, this move is Vega's V-Reversal. Like most V-Reversals, the purpose is to stop opponent's pressure or to get out of tough situations. Because Vega is not strong when he's under pressure, the Backslash should be used to create as much space as possible between himself and the opponent. However, if Vega is stuck in the corner, he can use the Short Backslash to keep the distance from his opponent manageable, giving Vega an opportunity to bring the pressure right back.
