Description

Executed by pressing Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick simultaneously (or pressing Drive Impact for Modern Control), Terry performs a hopping spinning back kick.

Tactics

Like all Drive Impacts, Backspin Kick has 2-hits of armor during the startup frames. This makes it useful to absorb the opponent's attacks and retaliating as they are recovering. Hitting the opponent with Backspin Kick as a Punish Counter puts them crumple state on hit, giving Terry enough time to start a high-damaging combo. In the middle of the screen, this move can push the opponent back on block. Terry can use the distance created to be in range for a spaced out Burn Knuckle or maintain his distance with Power Waves.

Trivia

  • Backspin Kick's implementation as Terry's Drive Impact is similar to its appearances in The King of Fighters XIV and The King of Fighters XV, where it splats opponents against the wall as a Blowback Attack and crumples the opponent while absorbing a hit as a Shatter Strike.
    • Originally, it is Terry's Body Toss attack from the King of Fighters series, done with C + D, which knocks down an opponent on hit. This is referenced too in Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, but turned into a special attack.
