Description[]
Zangief performs a one-step forward-turning back slap angled low, with his hand engulfed in a colored (usually blue or green) energy.
The EX Special introduced in the Street Fighter IV series has almost no startup time, knocks down the foe (depending on the version of the game being played) and hits twice. Though users should be aware that despite the fast startup Zangief moves his hurtbox forward at a rapid pace making him vulnerable to Buffers.
Tactics[]
This move is quite powerful and has good range, due to Zangief's size and forward momentum. The attack closes distances quite effectively, and can even dissipate the fireballs and other projectiles that Zangief hates so much. The EX version is fast enough to end combos safely, but the move is generally unsafe if blocked or missed.
It should be noted that the Hitbox of this attack is classified as a projectile and not a "strike", meaning that while Zangief isn't considered a projectile character, an opponent can correctly read the Zangief player and use a projectile immune attack such as Ibuki's EX Neck Breaker to defeat the attack.
As Zangief physically moves forward when performing this attack this is his best way to Corpse Push a downed opponent.
Trivia[]
- Contrary to popular belief, "Banishing Flat" is actually a mistranslation of "Vanishing Flat", the move's properly translated name.
