Description[]
- "A powerful throw that puts an opponent in a finishing hold with pro-wrestling flair. Can be used to slip through an opponent's guard at close range and deliver massive damage."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing two full-circle motions in either direction and pressing punch, Zangief points in the air and attempts to grab his opponent. If successful, he strikes them with a close-ranged lariat that knocks them to the ground. Zangief then poses to the crowd, signaling his finisher. As the opponent gets back to their feet, Zangief kicks them in the stomach to set them up for a powerful Screw Piledriver.
When used as a Critical Art, pyrotechnics flare up as Zangief poses. After the initial lariat, Zangief gets the crowd pumped up before lifts the opponent off of the ground, putting them on his shoulders in a fireman's carry position. He then performs an Airplane Spin that tosses them into the air. Zangief jumps and intercepts the spinning airborne opponent before getting them in position to deliver a devastating Screw Piledriver with such force that it creates a shockwave across the ground.
Tactics[]
In a stark contrast to previous moves of its type, Bolshoi Storm Buster is not an instant command grab super, having a 6-frame startup. Zangief cannot punish certain moves at close range on block, and in some niche cases would prefer to use his meterless command grabs. Zangief can cancel the first hit of his OD Double Lariat into Bolshoi Storm Buster, but generally has no other routes into it outside of Punish Counters. However, this move can be used as a reversal. Its fast startup prior to the screen freeze still make it a powerful surprise option. Bolshoi Storm Buster is almost unreactable. If the opponent is not throw immune, airborne, or out of range at the start of the screen freeze, they are guaranteed to be grabbed and take massive damage. At 4800 damage for the Level 3 and 5300 for the Critical Art, Bolshoi Storm Buster is the strongest Critical Art in the game.
Trivia[]
- Zangief's quote for the Level 3 has him call it the opponent's "last ride", referencing professional wrestler Undertaker's alternate finisher The Last Ride, an elevated powerbomb.
