Description
- "Leap forward into the air and unleash a series of piercing attacks on the downward arc. A useful surprise attack to get around an opponent's attempts to check you."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing a quarter-circle back motion and pressing kick (or pressing down and Special Attack for Modern Control), A.K.I. flips over and rapidly jabs her opponent as she falls. When the Overdrive version hits the opponent, A.K.I. positions one leg around the back of her opponent's neck while the other legs rests on top of their chest. Positioned over her opponent, A.K.I. rapidly jabs her claws into their face. On the last strike, A.K.I. thrusts both claws into the opponent's head, causing them to fall on their back and poisoning them in the process. The poisoned opponent convulses on the ground as A.K.I. rolls away and returns to her stance.
Tactics
The strength of the kick button pressed determines the move's startup, range, and damage output. The Light version has the fastest startup, but inflicts the least damage and shortest range. Heavy Cruel Fate has the longest range and inflicts the most damage, even though it has a 33-frame startup. If A.K.I. is close enough, she can then link Heavy Cruel Fate into Crouching Light Punch to continue the combo. Each version is -3 on block, making it difficult for the opponent to punish if properly spaced. This move can be used to end grounded combos or extend juggle combos, depending on the height of the opponent. Cruel Fate can also beat out Drive Impact due to its multiple hits.
The OD version has the same startup and range as the Medium version. Unlike the other versions, OD Cruel Fate is +2 on block. It also inflicts the most damage. While the Medium version needs all of the hits to connect to get the full damage, A.K.I. just needs to hit the opponent once with OD Cruel Fate to score similar damage. Hitting the opponent with the OD version puts them in a poisoned state, thus setting them up for a Toxic Blossom. Against an airborne opponent, it puts them in a juggle state, allowing A.K.I. to follow up with a Drive Rush to continue the combo or finish them with her Super Art.
