Description

MediumDégagé
"A powerful thrusting kick performed with all the grace of ballet. Useful for catching opponents by surprise and slipping through their guard."
Street Fighter 6

Executed by performing a quarter-circle back motion and pressing kick (or pressing back and Special Attack for Modern control), Manon does a kick with multiple variations:

  • The version does a low, spinning double sweep kick with straight legs, showing off her ballet prowess.
  • The version does a jumping double spin kick with straightened legs - again showing off Manon's ballet prowess.
  • The & versions do a jumping hammer kick, with the former variant being quicker.

Tactics

Each version of Dégagé has unique properties and situational uses. The Light version is an advancing low sweep attack that knocks down the opponent on hit, granting Manon some okizeme when successfully deployed. Its relatively fast startup allows it to be used as a combo ender or, alternately, as a tool to catch an opponent off-guard if they’re not blocking low during neutral play. However, care must be taken when using it for the latter purpose, as this version of the move is highly unsafe and leaves Manon in a compromising position if blocked.

The Medium version of Dégagé is an advancing double kick attack that knocks down the opponent on hit. Unlike the light version, this version only gives okizeme when near the corner, but in exchange does slightly more damage. Its primary use is as a combo ender. Like the light version, this version is highly unsafe on block and should only be used after successfully confirming into a combo.

HeavyDégagé

The Heavy version of Dégagé is an overhead attack with good range and a reasonably fast startup. While it is also unsafe on block, unlike the other versions it can be safely spaced out to make it difficult to punish. As a result, this version of the move can serve as a useful tool during neutral play against opponents who tend to block low. In neutral, a judicious Manon player can alternate between uses of the light and heavy versions of Dégagé, keeping the opponent on the defensive and repeatedly forcing them to guess between blocking low and overhead attacks. Finally, the heavy version of the move also forces the opponent into a crouching state, allowing Manon to create certain unique sequences when optimizing combos.

The Overdrive version of Dégagé is an overhead attack similar to the heavy version, except it is completely safe on block (in exchange for a slightly slower startup). This version also allows Manon to combo out of it, allowing for some extra damage, okizeme and corner carry.

Trivia

  • Dégagé is the French word for "clear, offhand".
