Description[]
Executed by pressing and holding Medium Punch and Medium Kick, followed by pressing forward twice (or pressing Drive Parry plus forward twice for Modern Control), the character glows blue as they get in a defensive stance. Next, they glow green as they quickly advance toward their opponent. It can be performed from any cancellable normal as a Drive Rush Cancel, performed either by pressing forward twice or Medium Punch and Medium Kick during the attack's special-cancel window.
Tactics[]
Drive Rush enhances the attacker's next normal/unique attack with an additional four frames of blockstun and hitstun, greatly increased juggle potential, and forward momentum for extra range. As many attacks in Street Fighter 6 are often negative on block and vulnerable to Drive Parry and Drive Impact, Drive Rush enhanced attacks lets the attacker close the distance and stay on the offensive.
Drive Rush Cancels occur when a Drive Rush is used after a special-cancellable normal on hit or block, or on whiff for any Light attack. Drive Rush Cancels cost three Drive Stocks as opposed to one but allow for continued pressure.
While great for extending combos, Drive Rushes also incur an extra 15% scaling for the remainder of the combo. Additional Drive Rushes afterwards do not incur any additional penalties, however the scaling stacks with Perfect Parry and any character-specific moves.
It is also very similar to Focus Dash Cancel from Focus Attack mechanic, in term of sharing simultaneous holding both Medium Punch and Medium Kick to dash forward twice.
