FFB

FFB is Balrog's second V-Skill in Street Fighter V.

Input
Street Fighter V Medium punch+Medium kick

Description

Executed by pressing Medium Punch and Medium Kick simultaneously, Balrog covers up and bobs from side-to-side several times until his upper body burst with steam, amplifying his next Dash Straight.

Tactics

This installment has a total of 50 frames. Balrog cannot cancel FFB from any of his normals or special moves. He can, however, link his second V-Skill from his OTB target combo. Once the entire animation of his V-Skill is finished, his next Dash Straight becomes enhanced. It hits the opponent three times and inflicts slightly more damage than the regular version. While the amount of stun dealt is decreased, the amplified Dash Straight results in a knockdown. It also launches the opponent high enough for him to follow-up with Light or EX Dash Straight.

Balrog keeps his V-Skill, even if he takes damage or gets knocked down. After performing the enhanced Dash Straight, he loses the installment. He builds some V-Meter if the special attack whiffs. On block or on hit, he builds slightly more V-Meter. However, he does not gain V-Meter when performing the installment of his second V-Skill. Another significant buff Balrog receives with FFB is that he doesn't have to charge to perform Dash Straight. This gives him excellent fullscreen presence. With such an improvement, it makes it easier for him to buffer into his special attack, to whiff punish from a distance, or to use the enhanced Dash Straight with Light hit-confirm combos. When Balrog's first V-Trigger is active, the chained Dash Straights have better corner carry, hit-count, and damage output.

Even on block, the amplified Dash Straight gives him frame advantage. He is +2 for the regular versions and +4 for the EX version. Because he is up close, Balrog can maintain offensive pressure by frame trapping his opponent with normals or go for a throw. Even his second V-Trigger becomes more of a threat when combined with FFB since he is already in range for his damaging command throw.

Balrog's first V-Skill gives a way to slip past projectiles. He can also go for throw-resets or overheads with KKB, making him better at rushing his opponent and going for mix-ups. However, FFB makes Balrog's gameplay slower yet safer with the enhancements to his Dash Straights. Without the need to charge, his neutral game, as well as the ability to whiff punish and hit-confirm, are significantly better.
