Abel preparing Ibuki for the giant swing

Abel

The Soulless (無我 Muga?) is Abel's first Ultra Combo in the Street Fighter IV games.

Input
All appearances Arcade Stick QCFArcade Stick QCF+Arcade Button Punch x3
Damage
Abel 461

Description[]

Executed by performing two quarter-circle forward motions and pressing all 3 punch buttons, Abel screams as his sclera (solid "white" of the eyes) change to black, then he rushes forward to deliver a gut punch to the opponent. If this punch connects, Abel launches a series of punches and kicks, screaming as he does so, and continues by grabbing the opponent and whipping them around before throwing the opponent into the air. He finally jumps, catches the opponent and slings them over his shoulder; they both fall to the ground, with the opponent falling first and Abel landing on top of them.

Tactics[]

This move has armor-breaking properties, and allows Abel to pass through projectiles. Naturally, this makes it ideal for punishing projectile spammers, due to Abel travelling a long distance at a very fast pace when performing the attack. With strict timing, it is also possible to combo into the move via a simple crouching heavy punch.

Trivia[]

  • The attack (mainly the color change in his eyes) is one of several hints at the fact that Abel is one of M. Bison's spare bodies, similar to Seth.
  • The attack resembles Captain America's Final Justice from the Marvel vs. Capcom series.
  • In the files of Street Fighter IV, unused variants on Soulless exist, with one ending in Abel's Focus Attack and one ending in a Crouching Heavy Punch to Falling Sky, likely being remnants of a more Street Fighter Alpha-esque Super Combo meter.
