"Pinky Swear" is the third chapter of Act Two in A Shadow Falls.

In a secluded area in a mountainous region, Ryu kneels and meditates before the calming waterfall. He opens his eyes when he senses someone nearby. Ryu turns to see his best friend approaching and greeting him. When Ken asks Ryu about his training, he gets in his stance; preferring to receive his answers with a friendly spar. Nodding in approval, Ryu puts his fists up. Ken hops on his toes as the battle between the two commences.

As expected, the two are evenly matched. Still, Ryu's mind remains in turmoil, both due to attempting to resist the Satsui no Hado and from the legend of the mysterious warrior Dhalsim had told him of. This allows Ken to gain the upper hand and prevail.

After the match, Ryu stands back on his feet. Despite losing, he respects his friend's offensive strength. Even though he was victorious, Ken acknowledges how close of a match it was. As Ken cools down, one of the Kanzuki Family's ninjas enters and bows before the two fighters. She delivers a message from the Kanzuki Familiy, stating that they are requesting help from the world's best fighters to stop Shadaloo from using the Black Moons. When the kunoichi asks both fighters to join them, Ken notices a troubling look on Ryu's face. Ken then turns to the ninja and responds that only he will join them. The ninja approves and leaves the area. Before Ryu can ask, Ken tells his friend that he will cover for him while he is continuing with his training. In exchange, Ken wishes to see the results of Ryu's training once it's completed; to which Ryu agrees. After the two exchanged fist-bumps, Ken departs. Ryu watches his friend leave before gazing back at his fist.

- This is the first of two fights between Ryu and Ken. The second fight occurs after the credits in A Shadow Falls.
Scene 1[]
[Next to a waterfall in the wild, Ryu is meditating. Ken approaches him.]
Ken: Hey!
[Ryu stands up to address his old friend.]
Ken: How's special training? ...Well, if you ask me, I think we both prefer this a lot more!
[He then enters his fighting stance. With a small smile, Ryu does the same. Ken warms up a bit more as he gets ready.]
Ken: Heh heh! Bring it on!
Ken vs. Ryu[]

- Pre-fight (Ken): "Never gets old."
- V-Gauge Full (Ken): "Now I’m on fire."

Scene 2[]
[Ryu stands up solemnly after his defeat.]
Ryu: Nice offense there.
Ken: Phew! That was real close.
[As Ken warms up for another go, a red-clad kunoichi drops down behind him. Ken turns around to address her.]
Ken: You're one of Kanzuki's ninjas. What do you want?
Kunoichi: Shadaloo is using the Black Moons to drive the world into chaos. The Kanzuki Family is requesting help from the world's best fighters to prevent this from happening.
[Ryu comes closer, as the female ninja's words ring a bell from his experiences in India days before.]
Kunoichi: We hope that you both will join our cause.
[As Ken turns to look at Ryu, he notices his friend looks distressed. Thus he makes up his mind.]
Ken: Understood. I alone will join their fight for now. Please tell them so.
[The kunoichi acknowledges Ken's response and departs.]
Ryu: Ken?
Ken: You need to continue your special training.
Ryu: But I...
Ken: What I'm trying to say is... that I'll cover for you this time. But in exchange...When you complete your training, you must show me the result of all your effort.
[He then holds out his fist. Ryu responds in kind, with their old fist-bump greeting.]
Ryu: Sure!
[After a brief moment of exchanging glances, Ken turns to leave.]
Ken: See ya! I look forward to hearing about... "the answer that lies beyond".
[Ryu watches his friend leave, then looks at his fist in contemplation.]
