Description[]

CowardCrouch
"Crouch in place and adopt a low stance. From this stance you can perform Wild Lift (an attack), or Raid Jump (a special jump)."
Street Fighter 6

Executed by pressing down and all three punch buttons (or Medium Punch and Medium Kick simultaneously in Street Fighter V), Blanka drops down to a prone position. In Street Fighter 6, the input for this move is pressing down and two punch buttons.

Upon activation, Blanka can perform one of the following moves as he is in the air.

  • Wild Lift is executed by pressing any punch button during Coward Crouch. Blanka swings his paws in an upward motion, launching the opponent into the air.
  • Raid Jump is executed by pressing any kick button during Coward Crouch. Blanka performs a high, forward leap toward his opponent.

Updates[]

OMEGA Mode added an EX Special version (down+heavy punch + heavy kick) and two follow-ups: Wild Lift and Raid Jump.

Tactics[]

This move is one of Blanka's safest tools to avoid projectiles. By pressing and holding on to the input button(s), he can remain in the prone position to duck underneath even slow-moving fireballs. Coward Crouch can be cancelled from most of Blanka's normals. While in this position, Blanka can perform a couple of options. Hitting the opponent with one of his follow-ups allows him to build V-Gauge.

Wild Lift[]

WildLift
"A launching attack performed from Coward Crouch."
Street Fighter 6

Pressing any punch button during Coward Crouch gives Blanka a decent option to extend combos. On hit, Wild Lift launches his opponent in the air, allowing him to follow-up with one of his special attacks, such as Rolling Attack or Vertical Roll. In addition, Blanka can put his opponent in a mix-up situation after hitting them with Wild Lift. Instead of finishing the combo with a special attack, he can hit them with Standing Heavy Punch to put his opponent in an Air Reset. From there, he can keep his opponent guessing by fish for Crush Counter Hits, surprise them with his command grab, or use Surprise Forward to potentially switch sides.

Raid Jump[]

RaidJump
"A forward jump performed from Coward Crouch."
Street Fighter 6

Pressing any kick button during Coward Crouch gives Blanka another aerial approach. He can use this leap to bait the opponent into a counter and quickly dodge it, following up with an aerial attack. Additionally, the arc of his jump can be deceiving. If placed perfectly, Blanka can go for a cross-up and start off a decent jump-in combo. Also, Blanka can build a bit of V-Meter each time he hits his opponent with a jumping normal attack that initiates with Raid Jump.
