Description[]

Koshuto

Chun-Li using Koshuto against Cammy.

Executed by pressing Light Punch and Light Kick, (the throw command) near an opponent. Chun-Li performs a fake strike, getting the opponent to put their guard up. As Chun-Li rotates, she takes a step past her opponent. She then uses her forearm to perform a quick takedown throw.

In Street Fighter 6, her forward throw is roughly the same with some minor changes. After grabbing the opponent by the wrist, Chun-Li yanks her opponent toward her direction. As they stumble forward and past her, Chun-Li hooks an arm underneath her opponent's near arm. With their arm locked behind them, Chun-Li pivots and swings her arms out in front; tossing her opponent aside and causing them to land on their face.

Tactics[]

KoshutoSF6

Koshuto in Street Fighter 6

"Seize your opponent by the arm, spin them around you, and throw them aside. Throws your opponent without switching places with them."
Street Fighter 6

This move is good way for Chun-Li to reset the neutral game. Landing the Koshuto puts the opponent in mid-range. This will allow Chun-Li to follow up with long distance pokes, like Tsuitotsuken or Yokusenkyaku. She can also mix-up pokes with throws and shimmies to open up her opponent. In order to get in on her opponent and inflict some damage, she has to utilize every move she has at her disposal, including her throws.

In Street Fighter 6, this move has more pushback compared to other forward throws. Unlike most of the cast, Chun-Li has difficulty putting her opponent in a throw loop situation in the corner due to the separation Koshuto creates. However, against 6-frame normals, she can walk forward and throw her opponent again before their attack comes out. Like most games, throws are used to break the opponent's defenses when they're constantly blocking.
