Description

FinalCombination

Executed by pressing Light Punch four times, Cody performs two jabs, a stomach blow, then an uppercut as in Final Fight. This attack has two follow-up attacks. This move has 4 hits (and used some of the two follow-up attacks of Final Combination).

Fake Blow

Executed by pressing back and Light Punch, after making Final Combination, Cody will turn backwards and perform a short punch before turning around again.

Final Combo Throw

Executed by pressing down and Light Punch, after making Final Combination, Cody will perform a throw (like his throw in Final Fight) that will launch the opponent across the screen.

Tactics

While its damage is mediocre and committing to the target combo causes Cody to become considerably more disadvantageous on each blocked hit, Final Combination's follow-ups are useful for their utility coming off of a four-frame Light Punch. The last hit of Final Combination can be cancelled into Cody's Critical Art or either V-Trigger on block and hit, making it a useful confirmation route. While Dirty Coach is activated, Cody can even cancel into either Gentle Swing for damage or Bean Ball for mixups. Worth noting is that Side Arm replaces Cody's Standing Light Punch entirely, preventing him from using Final Combination.

Final Combo Throw deals more damage than the uppercut follow-up and throws the opponent behind Cody. While an unfavorable option when on the offensive against a cornered opponent, Final Combo Throw also gives Cody a meterless side-switch, letting him shift momentum in his favor where he can assault the opponent with highly damaging Zonk Knuckle and Ruffian Kick corner combos.

Trivia

  • Final Combination is inspired by Cody's basic attack combo from his home series, including the ability to throw opponents in the middle of the attack. The version seen in OMEGA Mode also includes Fake Blow, letting Cody whiff a punch behind him and continue to combo the opponent with the first two jabs indefinitely, referencing a glitch in the original Final Fight, which would subsequently serve as the basis for Final Destruction.
    • X-ISM changes Final Destruction to completely alter Cody's moveset to match Final Fight including the ability to perform the Fake Blow.
