Frost Touch is one of Kolin's special attacks, introduced in Street Fighter V.

Description

Executed by performing a quarter-circle back motion and pressing punch, Kolin swipes her arm toward her opponent in anticipation of countering her opponent's attack. The strength of the button pressed determines the angle she swings her arm. The EX version also depends on the two punch buttons are pressed.

• Pressing Light Punch causes Kolin to swipe downward to defend against low attacks. Pressing Light Punch and Medium Punch simultaneously performs the EX Light Frost Touch. If Kolin successfully counters her opponent's attack, she catches and pulls on their arm, dropping them on their hands and knees. She then rolls her back over the crouched opponent's back so that she is positioned behind them. As her opponent recovers, Kolin faces away from them and bends over to make handstand. She extends her legs toward her opponent, delivering a double mule kick that knocks them backwards.

• Pressing Medium Punch causes Kolin to swipe in front to defend against medium or high attacks. Pressing Light Punch and Heavy Punch performs the EX Medium Frost Touch. If Kolin successfully counters her opponent's attack, she catches her their arm with one hand and retaliates with an elbow strike to the midsection. With a grip still on her opponent's arm, Kolin hoist them over her shoulders and on to the side, spinning them off-balance. As they recovers, Kolin swings both of her arms toward her opponent, delivering a back fist and an open-handed swipe in succession to knock them backwards.

• Pressing Heavy Punch causes Kolin to swipe upward in front of her to defend against jumping attacks. Pressing Medium Punch and Heavy Punch performs an EX Heavy Frost Touch. If Kolin successfully counters her opponent's attack, she catches her opponent in midair, holding them up high momentarily. With a grip on their collar and midsection, Kolin faces the opposite direction and violently throws her opponent down to the ground, causing them to land on their back.

Tactics

Frost Touch is one of Kolin's primary defensive options. This special counter gives Kolin a very strong tool to parry attacks from all directions, inflicting a lot of damage to her opponent and causing a knockdown in the process. In order for it to work, Kolin has to time this move properly. Mistiming the counter leaves Kolin vulnerable in a Counter Hit state.

Each version of Frost Touch has a 2-frame startup (1-frame startup for the EX version), making it the fastest special attack in the game. If Kolin makes the right reads, she can successfully counter her opponent's attack and inflict a ton of damage that is equivalent to a command grab. Additionally, each version results in a side switch. This is useful to escape pressure situations. Kolin can use Frost Touch to get out of the corner and put her opponent back in it.

The main drawback is that each version of this move counters a specific type of attack. The Light version counters low attack. The Medium version counter highs and grounded attacks. The Heavy version counters jumping attacks or attacks that has the opponent airborne. In addition, the EX version only increases the damage output. It doesn't give Kolin the ability to cover and counter all directions at once.
