G is a video game character from the Street Fighter series, first appearing in the third DLC season of Street Fighter V.

Biography

Appearance

G has a peculiar appearance; a long, rather wild beard, contrasting with his clothing which consists of a very tall top hat with decorative patterns around the base. A black bow-tie at the neck. A black waistcoat buttoned at the side, decorated with highly ornate patterns and trimmed at the shoulders with a shiny red material. Under the waistcoat a formal white shirt can be seen. A gold pocket-watch hangs from the left side of his waistcoat. Oddly, small areas of G's skin - most noticeably the area around his left eye and on his arms - appear to be gold. A closer look reveals that the gold patterns form a map of the globe; both American continents appear in gold on his right arm.

G's story costume depicts him wearing a trenchcoat, fedora and mask, making him look remarkably similar to Q.

Concept

The full details of G's development process have yet to be revealed but his pose (pointing towards the screen) in the cinematic opening for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, in consideration with his design, is reminiscent of Uncle Sam's "I want you" pose. G also bears a resemblance to Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the U.S.A.

Trivia

• He is the second playable Street Fighter character whose name is only known by one letter, the first being Q.

• In Sega's House of the Dead series, there is a character who shares his name.

• G shares similarities to Greg the Gorilla from the Bloody Roar series. They both wear top hats and have beards. G's name is also the first letter in Greg's name.
