"Fight!"
—Game Announcer
Street-fighter-4-perfect-trick

The announcer signaling a perfect round for Ken in Street Fighter IV.

The Game Announcer, also known as Ring Announcer (リングアナウンサー Ringu Anaunsā?) and Narrator, is a voice that provides all of the game's commentary, and has been a main feature throughout the Street Fighter series.

Description

The announcer is a disembodied voice. Its exact tone often varies with (and sometimes within) the game and/or series. For example, in Marvel vs. Capcom, the voice is that of a young female, while in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, the voice is closer to that of a black male.

The Game Announcer signals the start and end of a match, among other things. The announcer is also known as the referee of the match.

Don Sauvage

Don Sauvage (ドン・ソバージュ Don Sobāju?) is a character presented on the Street Fighter V official site as the character referred to simply as "Ring Announcer." It is not clear if he only represents the announcer from Street Fighter V or all games in the series, specially due to different voice actors taking the role. In Marvel vs. Capcom for example, the announcer has a female voice.

Don is voiced by Jason Liebrecht in English and Mitsuru Ogata in Japanese.

History

In the past he was part of a rock band, but it didn't manage to make much profit. His verbosity called the attention of the CWA and he was hired as a ring announcer. He later began working as a freelancer announcer, livening up matches for a variety of organizations. Besides battles, he also works as an announcer for a variety of events, and also works in Zangief's box office and in a talk show from Las Vegas.[1]
