Gedo High School students.
- "Gathering the nation's worst"
Gedo High School (外道高等学校 Gedō Kōtogakkō?) is an all-boys school from the Rival Schools series located near an industrial area at the mouth of a large estuary from the Yamato River in Aoharu City.
Gedo High School was founded in 1934 as Otokomichi High School (男遊高校 Otokomichi Kōkō?). It used to be a good school that equally promoted excellence in both academics and martial arts, aiming to raise fine Japanese men. However, as student numbers declined, the quality of students also declined, and it was renamed to Gedo High School in 1975. Now, it has changed from an institution that made use of "classes to train the mind" in order to raise "people who do not stray from the path of humanity", making it look like a correctional facility of sorts, seeking to rehabilitate bad guys from all over the country. The number of students enrolling in Gedo High has been declining every year, alongside the industrial area that is also continuing to decline and facing danger of becoming obsolete at any time.
The school's motto is "righteousness and perseverance", and due to the school's current condition it currently has the strict objective to "graduate as many students as possible". The student population is quite unfavourable, consisting of 320 students on the first grade, 160 on the second, and 80 on the third.
Despite the school being full of delinquents who fight each other, it does not have problems with bullies troubling weaker students nor thieves, the students even being respectful with Kiri, the gentle elder running the small store in front of the school. The students also do not drink nor smoke, and the school is clean inside. The reason for those is assumed to be due to the students developing a tough man attitude and a chivalrous spirit that makes such acts being seen as below them. As birds of a feather, they also develop solidarity between themselves, but as a boys only school, girls are a touchy subject for them, being harder for them to have a girlfriend. While Gedo High students are bad at studies, they hate losing and always give their best at sports. They are specially fired up in matches against other schools, having a rivalry with Gorin High School.[1]
Gedo High used to be more chaotic before Daigo Kazama enrolled, but he restored order to the school by gathering all gangs under his command, becoming their big boss. During Rival Schools: United by Fate, Daigo was kidnapped and the school returned to chaos, and Akira recruited two students, Edge and Gan, to help find Daigo. After Daigo was rescued, he left on a journey to improve himself, but was kidnapped again and brainwashed by Kurow in Project Justice. When Daigo returned, he ordered the gangs to attack other schools to control them, something that Edge and Gan found strange. They eventually discovered the truth and released Daigo from Kurow's control.
