'Gou Hibiki' (火引強 Hibiki Gou) (born May 23, 1948)[citation needed] is Dan's father and is a master in Ansatsuken.[citation needed] Gou, Akuma and his brother Gouken were trained by a powerful warrior named Goutetsu, which he learned and mastered a style of karate called Ansatsuken, purifing the style from a group of killer techniques known under the name of Satsui no Hadou. Akuma and Gou learned these techniques by stealing some writings of Goutetsu that were prohibited in which these techniques were explained. Since the day that Akuma and Gou began practicing these techniques (including the powerful Shun Goku Satsu), and began to be possessed by the Satsui no Hadou. Gou started wearing a tengu mask to hide his face and left his family to travel the world to face strong rivals to quench his growing thirst for violence. He is the one who took out Sagat's eye in a brutal duel and in response, an enraged Sagat beat him to death.
Appearances
Gou never appeared in any games as he died pre-Street Fighter. He is however frequently mentioned in games featuring Dan. In Street Fighter IV Dan has a picture of Gou hanging on the wall in his dojo, but the face is obscured by a glare of sunlight on the glass. Fans have, however, included their own versions of Gou in MUGEN, a customizable fighting game for the PC in which players can insert fighter characters of their own design.
Gou does appear in Pocket Fighter as a cameo in several of Dan's attacks. His appearance is similar to Dan's, however he has a green karategi, red skin, a halo (because he is a ghost) and a very long nose (a parody of Art of Fighting character Mr. Karate, who wears a Tengu Mask, and it's the father of Ryo Sakazaki, of whom Dan is a parody). Attacks involving Gou include Dan swinging him like a hammer, using his nose as the handle as well as Gou launching a freezing energy beam from his nose and even Gou using Shun Goku Satsu like Akuma (with the ideogram "Father" appearing on his back).
He also appears in Street Figher Legends by Udon comics, although he uses karate style like Dan.[citation needed] In the comics, Gou appears completely normal, without the long nose or red skin, looking more like an elderly version of Dan.[1] In the comics it is also revealed that he was killed defending his dojo from Sagat and his henchmen.

In Super Street Fighter IV Gou's Tengu Mask and green gi are worn in Dan's 3rd alternate costume set, albeit with the mask off to the side of his head rather than over his face.
