Description

GraspingUpper

Terry delivering a knee strike to Cammy's midsection using Grasping Upper.

"Grab and knee the opponent in the gut before throwing them forward. Throws your opponent without switching places with them."
Street Fighter 6

Executed by pressing Light Punch and Light Kick (or the Light Attack and Medium Attack for Modern Control) near an opponent, Terry grabs the opponent's shoulder with one hand and the back of their head with the other hand, and pushes down to bend them forward. As he holds the opponent in place, Terry delivers a knee strike to the opponent's midsection. After releasing the dazed opponent's shoulder, Terry winds up and delivers an uppercut to their chin that sends them flying onto their back. In Capcom VS SNK - as well as most SNK games - Terry executes only the uppercut, with the initial knee strike to the midsection being exclusive to Street Fighter 6.

Tactics

Grasping Upper

Terry launching Cammy into the air with an uppercut.

Grasping Upper in Street Fighter 6 is critical to Terry's arsenal. He can immediately perform a Drive Rush to reapply pressure as his opponent is recovering. Despite inflicting minimal damage, Terry can utilize throws to break the opponent's defenses; especially during okizeme. By mixing up strong normals with his throws, Terry can keep his opponent guessing and score free damage while continuously pushing them closer to the corner. This move becomes more terrifying after Terry performs an OD Power Wave. Because of the slow-moving projectile, the opponent is forced to deal with Terry's pressure and the approaching fireball at the same time. If he has the opponent in the corner, Terry can walk forward and put his opponent in a throw loop.
