The Hanakaze (花風 Hanakaze?) is one of Sakura's throws in Street Fighter V.

Input
Street Fighter V Arcade-Button-LPunch+Arcade-Button-LKick (Forward)

Description[]

Hanakaze

Sakura flipping Cammy over using Hanakaze.

Executed by pressing Light Punch and Light Kick, (the throw command) near an opponent. Sakura first grabs her opponent by the collar. Next, she takes a small step forward and shuffles her feet, positioning her front foot slightly past her opponent. Sakura pulls on their collar with one hand to throw her opponent over her thigh, she uses her other hand to push their leg over. Her opponent flips over and lands on their hip. If no directional input or button is pressed, Sakura dusts off her hands before dropping back to her stance.

Tactics[]

Sakura's throws are very important to her game plan. While this throw inflicts less damage and stun than her back throw, it leaves her positioned very close to her opponent. This gives Sakura better okizeme, thus amplifying her offensive pressure. After the throw, she can fish for Crush Counters with Standing Heavy Kick to beat out most of her opponent's normals. If her opponent is in the corner, Sakura can walk forward and continue them again in a pseudo-throw loop. After the throw, Sakura can perform EX Hadoken to maintain pressure. By conditioning them to tech throws or respond on wake-up, Sakura can open up her opponent for even bigger damage.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only attack in Street Fighter that specifically has the opponent hit on their hip, the second closest would be Zangief's Atomic Drop where he specifically targets the tailbone of the opponent.
