Description[]

HatenNoKamae

Executed by pressing Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick simultaneously, Akira raises her arm and knee up in a stance, with three blue afterimages following her movements similar to that of a Custom Combo. From there, she has a variety of follow-up options:

By pressing punch three times, Akira performs the Ha no Sogeki, which is a series of palm and elbow strikes.

By pressing kick, then punch, followed by kick, Akira performs the Ha no Renbu, which is a series of stationary kicks followed by a palm strike and a roundhouse kick.

By pressing back and kick, Akira performs the Ten no Renbu, which is a somersault kick. If the attack hits the opponent, it launches them into the air before Akira leaps toward them and performs a short air combo that includes a variety of kicks before delivering a dropkick that sends them crashing back to the ground.

Akira can also cancel the stance entirely by pressing down.

Tactics[]

TenNoRenbu

Akira kicking Cammy to the ground using Ten no Renbu.

Haten no Kamae exchanges Otoko no Senaka's mixup potential for raw damage and safety. Each option has its own strengths and weaknesses. Ha no Sogeki is the most damaging option, being cancellable into Akira's Critical Art on the last hit. Ha no Renbu is the safest option, with the initial kick follow-up being plus on block and the following punch being safe, making it useful for pressure or and letting Akira maintain her turn. Ten no Renbu has deceptively long range and is both projectile invincible and a strong anti-air, making it useful in the mid-range, especially against projectiles. Finally, Kamae Cancel allows Akira to link from special moves and certain normal attacks, letting her string together powerful combos. Akira can use Haten no Kamae four times total, once from the initial activation, and three manually afterward. She can also cancel into the stance from her EX moves, primarily EX Senshubu on the last hit.

Akira can also cancel into her V-Skills, with Tsutenda being usable after Haten no Kamae to initiate an Air Burst, albeit with extra scaling, and Kiko Rensei after Ha no Sogeki and Ha no Renbu, letting her safely get the amplified version up after some of her stronger enders. Ten no Renbu can also be used as an alternative ender to an Air Burst upon landing.

Trivia[]

  • Haten no Kamae bears a strong resemblance to Karin's Tenha no Kata, with not only an identical name, but also an identical pose when activated.
    • The stance comes from Xiao Baji Jia, a routine of forms built to strengthen one's foundation in bajiquan. Haten no Kamae's original appearance and its Street Fighter V appearance are variants of the same form.
