This article may or may not be a stub, but it's definitely missing something. Specifically: Expand tactics, update for SFV if possible. Also, switch to variable-size table. You can help the Street Fighter Wiki by giving us what we need. |
The Hyakuretsukyaku (百裂脚? "Hundred Rending Legs"), commonly known as Lightning Kick, is one of Chun-Li's signature special attacks. It made its first appearance in the original Street Fighter II.
In Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Shadow Lady's variant is called Infinity Leg (インフィニティ脚, Infiniti Ashi). In the Street Fighter IV series, this is one of the many moves copied by Seth.

Chun-Li
For Chun-Li, the move is executed by pressing rapidly and repeatedly any kick button; In the Vs. series games, Chun-Li (and by extension, Shadow Lady) gains the ability to perform the Hyakuretsukyaku in midair. In Street Fighter X Tekken, performing this requires the use of a half-circle forward motion, since the move serves as the Super Charge for her Senretsukyaku Super Art. In Street Fighter V, the input has been simplified to a quarter-circle forward motion, and can also be performed in the air similar to the Vs. series.
Chun-Li stands on one leg and side kicks "at the speed of lightning", with her other leg extended out. The kicks come out with incredible speed and power, and can land several hits, doing substantial damage if not blocked, and doing decent chip damage even when blocked. The EX Special version of the move introduced in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike starts up much quicker and launches the opponent into the air.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 also adds pink-comic-book-tearing effects to each kick, alongside her Hoyokusen. In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite however, two new followups are added. First is the Sotengeki (掃天撃 Soutengeki?, Brushing Heaven Strike), where Chun-Li from the grounded version of Hyakuretsukyaku performs an upward kick akin to her Tenkukyaku that acts as an air combo/aerial rave starter. Second is the Recchishu (裂地蹴 Recchishuu?, Rending Earth Kick; romaji is misspelled as "Rechishu" in-game), where from the midair version of Hyakuretsukyaku Chun-Li performs a forward-somersault-heel-drop to slam her target to the ground.

Seth
Executed by performing a quarter-circle backward motion and kick, Seth slides forward and aims a heavy kick at the opponent. If it lands, they spin in place as he draws his leg back, and the opponent is hit 16 times by an unseen force. The distance Seth moves forward is determined by the strength of the kick button; the heavier the kick pressed, the greater the distance. The EX Special version of this attack allows him to slide even further, with temporary invincibility against strikes and projectiles. In OMEGA Mode, after Slide-kicking, Seth proceeds to kick his opponent three times physically. This time, the move isn't EX-able, but still functions as a combo finisher.
An animation glitch known as Akuma's Seizure originated from this move.

Tactics
In earlier SFII games, if most of the hits connect unblocked, they could potentially stun the foe. In more recent game, Chun-Li's EX Hyakuretsukyaku can set up another EX Hyakuretsukyaku, an EX Spinning Bird Kick, or even an Ultra Combo in the Street Fighter IV series.
In the Vs. series, its midair capabilities enable quite a few routes for air combos, especially if Chun-Li happens to have a midair Hyper Combo ready to cancel into.
As meantioned above, Seth's two variants of the move is much more suitable as a combo finisher.
Trivia
- The Hyakuretsukyaku is probably loosely based on the Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken, Kenshiro's signature attack from the anime/manga series Fist of The North Star (Hokuto No Ken in Japan). Though Kenshiro's attack is a punching technique that utilizes two hands, the execution is similar as both attacks unleash a flurry of strikes at lightning speed, as well as being named the same way.
- In Devil May Cry 3, Dante possesses the Hyakuretsukyaku, as an ending to his Beowulf Combo II. After two punches, Dante performs a flurry of kicks before ending with an axe kick, much like Evil Ryu's Ryusokyaku. As with most of Beowulf's moves, these kicks can be charged to do more damage. In Marvel vs. Capcom 3, this becomes a followup move called Beehive.
- The Hyakuretsukyaku was also performed by Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall) in Scary Movie 2.
