Description[]

Street Fighter V[]

KillStep

Executed by pressing forward and all three kicks after blocking an attack, Ed ducks underneath his opponent and steps over toward the other side.

Street Fighter 6[]

"A technique that allows you to quickly move forward. Two different types of attacks are possible during the technique, which are timing dependent."
—Kill Step (Forward), Street Fighter 6

Executed by pressing forward or backwards along with two kick buttons. The forward version has Ed rush forward for 2 steps with his guard up, shrouded by Psycho Power. The back version simply has Ed shuffle backwards.

While moving during Kill Rush (Forward), he gains two follow-up attacks:

Kill Switch Break (キルスイッチ・ブレイク Kirusuicchi: Bureiku?)
"Unleash a short uppercut from Kill Rush. Useful for attacking while closing the distance on an opponent."
—Kill Switch Break, Street Fighter 6

Executed by inputting forward and any punch during the first step of Kill Rush, Ed does a stiff body uppercut with his front fist, launching the opponent slightly.

Kill Switch Chaser (キルスイッチ・チェイス Kirusuicchi: Cheisu?, Kill Switch - Chase)
"Unleash a powerful uppercut from Kill Rush. The opponent is launched into the air when this connects, making it easy to string together a combo."
—Kill Switch Chaser, Street Fighter 6

Executed by inputting forward and any punch during the second step of Kill Rush, Ed does a stiff body uppercut with his rear fist, launching the opponent and spins them out.

Tactics[]

"Perform a bob & weave while taking a step back. Useful for creating distance from the opponent while analyzing the situation."
—Kill Step (Backward), Street Fighter 6

Like most V-Reversals, the purpose is to stop opponent's pressure or to get out of tough situations. Ed's Kill Step is a solid escape option. While it does not inflict gray life like other V-Reversals, it is a great way for Ed to get out of the corner, switching sides with his opponent so that they are in the corner instead.

As a special move, Ed can cancel the startup of Psycho Knuckle with a forward Kill Rush or Psycho Flicker with either a forward or backward Kill Rush. Ed can counter attempts to intercept him during the charging animation with a dash, and with quick reactions, can even punish Drive Parry or Drive Impact attempts.

Kill Switch Break and Kill Switch Chaser both launch the opponent, deal the same amount of damage, and are equally unsafe on block, however their different startup speeds (22 and 24 frames minimum respectively) affect combo routes. Chaser can only be done naturally from Standing Heavy Punch outside of modifiers like Punish Counter or Drive Rush, but can be juggled into Heavy Psycho Blitz to compensate.
