Knockout Zones, also known as K.O. Zones, Stage Knockouts, or Stage Humiliations, is a term for an interactive element within a stage, in which the left and right corners can cause special cinematic knockouts if the final blow is landed at the corners. The cinematic animation that plays when a character is knocked out in the corners can be quite humiliating for the character to endure, adding insult to injury.

DescriptionEdit

Knockout Zone

Cammy getting hit into the Knockout Zone in Union Station.

When a character lands the final blow against the opponent who is in the corner, a special cinematic knockout is played for visual and comedic purposes. For example, the character that was hit into the knockout zone will start the next round with the stage's featured gag on their head. Additionally, some stages will have a secondary area the characters will fight in at the beginning of the next round.

List of stagesEdit

Here are the following stages' knockout zones.

Apprentice AlleyEdit

On the left side, the character slams into the wall and mimics the pose of the Yoga Master beside them for several moments before falling to the ground.

On the right side, one of the elephants catches the character and toss them to the second elephant. After catching the character, the second elephant slams them into the ground before tossing them out of the area.

Bustling Side StreetEdit

If the left side zone is triggered on a non-deciding round, the character burst through the entrance of the restaurant, causing wood from the doors and glass from the windows to fall around them. At the beginning of the next round, the match will continue within the restaurant.

If the next knockout happens on the left corner when inside the restaurant, the character is thrown into the kitchen, slamming back-first against the wall. As the character slumps to the floor, a bowl of noodles lands on their head. Should another round begin afterwards, the character will start the round with the bowl on their head, which can be knocked off during the fight.

On the right side, the character is thrown through the doors into a double-decker bus. The character comes to a stop on a seat, banging their head against the passenger window and losing consciousness. The bus drives off with them inside during the victory sequence.

City in ChaosEdit

On the left side, the character crashes through the "Hot Dog" sign and slams back-first into the railing, sending the hot dog piece up in the air. It then lands on their head as the character makes a humorous expression on their face. Should another round begin afterwards, the character will start the round with the hot dog piece on their head, which can be knocked off during the fight.

If the right side zone is triggered on a non-deciding round, the character crashes through the glass doors and into the bank, coming to a stop in front of the safe, next to the feet of a couple of surprised robber. At the beginning of the next round, the match will continue within the bank.

If the next knockout happens on the right corner when inside the bank, the character gets tossed into the vault, where it closes and locks them inside.

Forgotten WaterfallEdit

On the left side, the character gets knocked head-first into a log. As their body slumps into the ground, a number of kiwi birds surround them.

On the right side, the character gets thrown into an Egyptian-like structure that contains the tomb of Charlie Nash. As they roll into the tomb, the lid closes on top of them.

Hillside PlazaEdit

On the left side, the character tumbles into the tunnel, where the carnival dances scream and chase after them. Should another round begin afterwards, the character will start the round with a carnival headdress on their head, which can be knocked off during the fight.

On the right side, the character slams back-first into a fruit stand, causing a bunch of crates and baskets to fall off. Additionally, a bunch of bananas fall on top of the character's head. Should another round begin afterwards, the character will start the round with bananas on their head, which can be knocked off during the fight.

On the right side, the character tumbles through arena doors and into the courtyard outside, slamming head-first into a snowman. Trivia Edit

  • Street Fighter III's stage transitions where a stage could change daytime or even physical location after a battle could have been the predecessor to knockout zones.
  • The snowman in Underground Arena is always rendered and ready despite not being seen in official gameplay before the knockout zone update. If the camera is moved the snowman can be seen fully rendered while both characters are fighting.
