The Kuzuryu Reppa (九頭龍裂破 Kuzuryū Reppa?, "Nine-Headed Dragon Rending Blast") is Ken's Meteor Combo in the Street Fighter EX series, as well as one of Violent Ken's Super Combos in SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos.
|Street Fighter EX series||Ken||Meteor Combo||+ ( or )|
|SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos||Violent Ken||Super Combo||+|
Executed by performing two quarter-circle back motions and pressing all three kick buttons, Ken kicks the opponent multiple times (a la his Shippu Jinraikyaku) before performing a Shoryuken, then a Shoryureppa, and performs a Shinryuken that rises ludicrously high into the air as he says the move's name. The move deals more hits if the attack buttons are rapidly pressed. It is even capable of KOing an opponent with a full lifebar if the buttons are pressed fast enough.
Ken's evil side also possesses this technique as a normal Super Combo in SVC Chaos. It is executed in a similar way, with one kick button instead of 3. It can also be used as a set up for a Shinryuken or Shinbu Messatsu, if the player is quick enough to perform the combo.
Kuzuryu refers to the legends of the nine headed dragon throughout Japan, similar to the infamous dragon of legend of Orochi. Much unlike Orochi however, Kuzuryu often bear tales that they are pacified dragons of water and its bodies, such as lakes and rivers, that once demanded human sacrifice, and ascended to become deities through their benevolence. The most famous of these tales would be the legend of the Kuzuryu of Hakone.
- In EX2 Plus, Ken yells out three prior attack names before the actual attack, first being the Shippu Jinraikyaku, the Shoryuken and then the Shoryureppa before yelling out "Shinryuken!". In EX3, he does the same, except that he yells out "Kuzuryu Reppa!" instead of "Shinryuken!". In SVC Chaos, Violent Ken only yells out "Kuzuryu Reppa!".
