Description[]

LauraVSkill

Executed by pressing forward, plus Medium Punch and Medium Kick simultaneously, Laura performs a quick forward dash toward her opponent. By pressing back, with Medium Punch and Medium Kick together, Laura performs a quick, back dash away from her opponent. Additionally, if Medium Punch and Medium Kick after the first back dash, Laura does another forward dash toward her opponent.

While under the effects of Spark Show, Linear Movement is made faster.

Tactics[]

While Linear Movement is unsafe much in the same way dashes are with any other character in the cast, its utility lies in juking the opponent, baiting reversals and mixing them up at close range with her back-and-forth motion.

Linear Movement – Avante[]

Her command dash can be canceled from any of her special-cancelable ground attacks. The main difference between her V-Skill and her regular forward dash is that her hurtbox height is decreased during her V-Skill, making it trickier for opponent's to attack Laura. However, the Linear Movement - Avante has five additional recovery frames, compared to her forward dash. With its crouching properties, Laura can use her command dash to get under certain attacks, including F.A.N.G's Nishikyu, Dhalsim's Yoga Fire, and even some jumping attacks that would hit Laura’s head if she were standing or dashing normally. This is especially important against those two zoning characters since the parabolic arc on their projectiles can cause Laura some problems. The Linear Movement – Avante lets Laura crouch-dash under those projectiles when timed properly, advancing her closer to mount a mid-range.

Linear Movement – Esquiva[]

It’s six frames longer than Laura’s normal back dash, but it has several unique properties that make it much more versatile. It can be canceled into from any special-cancelable special attacks (except Sunset Wheel), or any of her other V-Skills. For example, if Laura scores knockdown an opponent and then get into close range, she can bait out a throw-tech or whiffed attack. Laura can dodge it and then get back into close range for a surprise frame trap, throw, or command grab mix-up.
