Poison

Love Hurricane is Poison's Critical Art in Street Fighter V.

Input
Street Fighter V Quarter-circle forwardQuarter-circle forward+Punch

Description

LoveHurricane

Poison kicking Cammy in the chin using Love Hurricane.

Executed by performing two quarter-circle motions forward and pressing punch, Poison lashes her whip at her opponent. If the initial hit connects, she ensnares them and pulls them toward her, causing them to fall on their stomach in front of Poison. After placing a heel on their back, Poison rapidly whips her opponent, similar to her Love Storm. Finally, she kicks her opponent squarely in the face, knocking them upward and causing them to land back-first on the ground. After performing the move, Poison places both hands on her knees and arrogantly taunts her opponent before dropping back to her stance.

Tactics

StreetFighterV 11 22 2019 10 53 15 PM

Poison retraining Ibuki with her whip using her Critical Art.

Like most Critical Arts, this move is used to end combos to deal large amounts of damage to the opponent. The Love Hurricane can be cancelled from some of Poison's normals and special moves such as Avant Line, Heart Raid, or Shocking Heel. Poison is also completely invincible during the startup and active frames of this attack. It can be used to punish her opponent when they're keeping her back with projectiles. Upon performing her Critical Art, Poison's whip can go through the fireball and inflict massive damage as they are recovering.

Trivia

  • This Critical Art combines elements of both of Poison's SFIV era Ultra Combos where Poison forces her opponent in the floor and whips them like Love Storm, then ends the sequence with a kick similar to Poison Kiss rather than with her whip.
  • If one moves the camera one will see Poison's opponent disappears when she starts the whipping animation. This is a high contrast to the USFIV Love Storm where at least the opponent's rear end is in view to imply that is where Poison is hitting. Also the implication of the area hit of Love Hurricane is the back.
  • Similar to Birdie, Poison restrains the opponent with her Whip (as he would do with his chains). The wrap around effect is character-sensitive (wider characters have longer circles of whip around them just as Birdie and his chains).
