Description[]
- "Grab your opponent at close range, disrupt their balance, and toss them to the ground with a powerful throw. Landing this move will raise your medal level, and the move's effect will change depending on that level."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing a half-circle backward motion and pressing punch (or pressing Special Attack for Modern control), Manon grabs her opponent by the wrists and bring them close to her. She then sweeps her opponent off their feet. Manon's Medal level determines what type of throw she performs on her opponent:
- Level 1 & 2 has Manon tripping her opponent and spinning back ballet-style as they crash on their stomach.
- Level 3 & 4 has Manon sweeping her opponent off their feet and launching them higher into the air. She then jumps and catches her opponent by the collar. Manon spins around once before slamming them back down on the ground.
- Level 5 has Manon throwing her opponent over her shoulder to launch them even higher, causing them to tumble in midair. Manon gracefully jumps high and catches her opponent by the collar. This time, she rolls on top of before viciously slamming her opponent back-first on the way down.
Tactics[]
The strength of the punch pressed used determines the throw's startup frames and range. The Light Punch version traveling the furthest at the cost of a 10 frame startup. The Medium Punch version has mediocre range with an 8 frame startup. Heavy Manège Doré has the shortest range but a 5 frame startup. The Overdrive version travels a comparable distance to the Light version and has 8 frames of startup.
The button used does not affect the throw's damage. Each time Manon successfully connects with Manège Doré, it increases Manon's Medal Level by 1, increasing the damage output of her next command grab. The medals earned through use of Manège Doré also powers up her Renversé hit-throw, and vice-versa. With 5 medals, Manège Doré is the most damaging command throw in the game aside from Super Arts.
Like most command grabs, the primary purpose of Manège Doré is to inflict damage and open up the opponent, particularly if they have a tendency to block a lot while under pressure. Thanks to its prodigious range and ease of execution, it may also see some use as a tool during close proximity neutral play. As noted, each command grab that Manon lands increases her Medal Level by 1 (up to a maximum of 5), which in turn increases the damage of her next command grab by 300 damage, with Level 5 gaining 700. At Level 5, Manège Doré inflicts approximately 3700 damage, making it stronger than many Level 2 Super Arts.
However, the biggest drawback for Manège Doré is the large amounts of recovery frames the move has. If Manon whiffs her command grab, her opponent has plenty of time to launch a counterattack while she's recovering. While her normal throws don't inflict much damage, it has a faster recovery; allowing Manon to get back on the attack. By mixing up her command grab with her regular throws, Manon can balance out her attack patterns without leaving herself vulnerable.
At the beginning of the match, Manon's Medal level always starts off at Level 1, meaning that she has a couple of moves that inflicts significantly less damage. Right out of the gate, she's already behind in regards to damage potential. In order for Manon to be a threat, she needs to hit the opponent a couple of times with Manège Doré or Renversé.
Trivia[]
- Manège Doré has the literal French translation of "golden carousel".
