Description
Executed by performing a quarter-circle forward motion and pressing punch, Urien fires a large round metallic projectile from his fist that electrocutes his opponent.
Street Fighter III
The angle of the projectile is determined by the punch button pressed:
Version | Effect |
---|---|
Fires it horizontally. | |
Fires it at roughly a 30° angle. | |
Fires it at roughly a 60° angle. | |
Hits twice. |
Street Fighter V
Urien also retains this move in Street Fighter V. While the input command of this move is the same, the properties have changed, compared to previous versions.
The attack has an upgraded form known as Temporal Thunder.
Tactics
Metallic Sphere has a relatively slow startup, but it can be charged, and can be used to juggle opponents with the proper timing. It also hits once, compared to his older brother's two hits, and takes longer before it can be used. In Street Fighter V, this move can be charged to add one additional hit to the projectile. Additionally, the charged fireball makes the move safe on block. This is effective in performing juggle combos or setting up tricky reset scenarios. Urien can use Metallic Sphere to keep his opponent at bay and attack at a distance.
When Urien is equipped with his second V-Skill, Metallic Sphere becomes enhanced with slightly more damage and a higher hit-count. On hit and on block, Urien builds both Critical and V-Meter. He also has good frame advantage with the amplified projectile. This allows Urien to continue combos off of the projectile or maintain pressure as his opponent is blocking. Thanks to the enhancements of his second V-Skill, Metallic Sphere becomes a better move to use in the neutral game.
