Metsu Shoryken as Seen in Street Fighter Alpha.

In Street Fighter Alpha, Ryu slides, hitting his opponent with the elbow and following with a 2-hit Shoryuken, similar to his Shin Shoryuken. In Super Street Fighter IV, Ryu delivers a powerful punch to the opponent's mid-section, just as he yells "Metsu!" and then follows up by delivering a fierce uppercut to the their chin. He then keeps his fist under the opponent's chin and applies a lot of pressure (the effect of this can be seen when the opponents chin becomes somewhat flattened). Ryu then yells "Shoryuken!" and proceeds on to deliver a devastating Shoryuken that inflicts a great deal of damage. This attack is powered by the Satsui no Hadou, but Ryu only uses the power to a degree, as he has achieved control through enlightenment like Goutetsu, the side effects won't occur.

Ryu-ultra2

The attack, if missed, becomes a Kinjite Shoryuken that inflicts the same multiple hits and can be used as an anti-air, and has similar damage and properties to Gouken's Kinjite Shoryuken. The priority and damage is also similar and is used primarily to counter Ultras, punish mistakes made by the opponent, or strike the opponent in the crumbling state.

Advanced Tactics

Unfortunately for Ryu, the opportunity to use Metsu Shoryuken is often short in SSFIV, as Ryu's normal moves do not have the ability to set up a situation that would fully use the Metsu Shoryuken's full potential, and would only be used as the Kinjite Shoryuken in some of the combos that suit the Metsu Hadoken very well. Its lack of flexibility restricts its primary use to counterattacks or finish off crumbled opponents. Just like the Shin Shoryuken, it has an after lag that is very long and leaves Ryu open to attack for a significant amount of time. However, it has been discovered that one can utilize the full power of the Metsu Shoryuken by performing a Hadoken, and then FADC into Ultra.
