Description[]
- "Charge and mount the opponent before unloading a flurry of powerful punches. It has long forward range, making it useful in combos, or as a way to deal with projectiles."
- —Description, Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing two quarter-circle forward motions and pressing kick, Luke takes a track stance, then rushes towards his opponent. On contact, he tackles his opponent to the floor with a Lou Thesz press, then assaults them with a barrage of punches to their face and head. On the last punch, he pulls his arm back with his forearm heating up with red before delivering the final blow to his opponent's exposed head, causing the floor to burst on impact.
When used as a Critical Art, Luke continues to barrage his opponent with more rapid and strong punches. This time, the opponent has their arms up in front of their face to blocks the punches while laying on their back. However, the impact of each punch makes the opponent reeling on their back. After Luke pulls his arm back for the final blow, the opponent attempts to intercept with a punch of their own, only for Luke to strike while their guard is down, knocking them out in a single blow, finishing it off by brushing their frozen hand off his shoulder.
Tactics[]
Since this is Luke's Level 3 Super Art, this is his strongest move in his arsenal. It inflicts more damage than his Level 1 and Level 2 Super Arts. Pale Rider is mainly used to end combos and finish off the opponent. It can even hit the opponent from midrange because of its wide hitbox. Luke is fully invincible during the startup of this move. Not only he can inflict optimal damage from combos ending with this move, but he can also use Pale Rider on reaction to an opponent's projectile to go through the fireball and tackle the opponent as they are recovering. Additionally, the cinematic animation lasts over ten seconds, allowing Luke to recover some of his Drive Gauge while performing this move.
One misconception that Pale Rider may bring due to its animation involving Luke tackling his opponent onto the ground, which can make people assume is that it is a grab. It is in fact not a grab, and the Level 3 can be stopped by blocking, though the the CA version of Pale Rider can finish off the round through chip if the blocking opponent's health is about 5% or less.
Trivia[]
- Pale Rider is a moniker given to Death from the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse in the Book of Revelation.
- Luke's Critical Art variant was originally mostly identical to his base Level 3, only having him casually walk off his opponent rather than jumping back. The animation would later be changed prior to the first Closed Beta Test.
