Description[]

Parabellum

Executed by performing a quarter-circle forward motion and pressing punch (by repeatedly pressing any punch button), Kolin coats both her hands with ice and stabs her opponents in rapid succession. The strength of the punch button pressed determines the number of hits. The Light version hits the opponent four times. The Medium version hits the opponent five times. The Heavy version hits the opponent six times, stabbing them with both hands.

By pressing two punch buttons, Kolin performs the EX version of Parabellum. This version performs the same Heavy Punch variation of the move. After the sixth hit, Kolin waves her arm upwards for an additional hit that launches the opponent into the air.

Tactics[]

Parabellum is Kolin's primary special attack. It is inflicts a decent amount of damage and allows her to maintain offensive pressure. However, like most special moves, this attack is unsafe on block. The most efficient time to use Parabellum is end combos. In addition, the strength of the punch button pressed (or tapped) determines the move's startup, damage, and properties.

The Light version inflicts the least damage since it only hits the opponent four times. However, it has the fastest startup. It also leaves her opponent in a standing, neutral state, rather than a knockdown. This lets her keep her opponent on their heels, mixing them with frame traps and throws. Buffering the Light version from her Standing Light Kick is also a good weapon to use in the neutral game. Despite being -4 on block, it can be difficult for her opponent to punish since she's mostly out of range from their fastest normal attacks.

While the Medium version has a slower startup than the Light version, it inflicts more damage. This is the version that's mostly used to end combos to keep the pressure on her opponent without a knockdown. A common combo ender to use this version is linking from the first hit of her Crouching Heavy Kick. Not only it does decent damage, but it also has great corner carry.

The Heavy version inflicts the most damage and results in a knockdown. It is also the best way to cancel into her Critical Art. However, it has the longest startup, which makes it difficult to use to end most of her combos. The best time to use Heavy Parabellum is after a Crush Counter hit, or linking from her Frost Spike target combo.

The EX version has the same fast startup as the Light version. The damage inflicted is also the same as her Heavy version. However, what makes this version powerful is that the last hit launches her opponent in the air, serving as a solid combo extender. From there, Kolin can use Heavy Vanity Step and end the combo with her air throw since it inflicts the most damage and leaves her fairly close to her opponent. In addition, the EX version is where Kolin can give herself a number of reset situations by cancelling into Medium Vanity Step and using Standing Medium Punch or Crouching Medium Punch.
