Description[]
- "Attack as though performing a ballet dance and then smash your opponent into the ground with a devastating slam. Can be used to slip through an opponent's guard at close range and deal tons of damage all at once."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing two quarter-circle forward motions and pressing punch, Manon goes into a ballet pose, then grabs her opponent by their wrist, sweeps their leg with her heel while keeping them standing, then spins them around. From there, Manon feigns a backdrop suplex, then poses with her opponent in 4 typical ballet poses, finishing the attack by hip-tossing them to the floor.
When used as a Critical Art, Manon sings in the background as she performs the same 4 ballet poses. As she catches the spinning opponent's wrist, she hoists them up into the air with an aura of swan wings surrounding both of them during the postings. Next, Manon grabs both of her opponent's wrists, positions herself underneath them before tumbling each other toward the ground. Finally, she delivers a rolling slam from the air, her opponent splatting on their front as she finishes the song.
Tactics[]
Pas de Deux is Manon's Level 3 Super Art, making it her strongest move in her arsenal. In spite of being a command grab, Pas de Deux can be jumped out of after the super flash. However, Manon can instead use it as a direct punish, particularly after a Perfect Parry, as well as end combos to finish off the opponent. She can cancel Pas de Deux from her normals, unique attacks, or special moves such as Rond-point or the first hit of Renversé. Though not as dramatic as Manège Doré, Pas de Deux is affected by Manon's Medal level, increasing the damage to up to 5100, making it the second strongest Critical Art in the game behind Zangief's Bolshoi Storm Buster. She is fully invincible during the startup frames of this move, giving it some usage as a reversal.
Trivia[]
- A pas de deux (literally "step of two") is a ballet dance duet in which two dancers, typically a male and a female, perform ballet steps together.
- The song that can be heard during the Critical Art version of Pas de Deux is from a famous French nursery rhyme called Il était un petit navire (There was a little ship), which tells the story of a young sailor who is about to be eaten by the other sailors after losing to drawing straws. They discuss how to cook the man and what sauce to use. The young sailor then prays for the Virgin Mary's intercession and is saved by a miracle, where thousands of fish suddenly jumped onto the boat.
