Description[]

PassionRopeThrow

R. Mika whipping Cammy across the stage during Passion Rope Throw.

Executed by pressing forward (or back) and Medium Punch after Passion Press is performed, R. Mika grabs her opponent and performs an Irish Whip, forcing her opponent to stumble in the direction pressed. If forward is pressed, R. Mika whips her opponent in the same direction she's initially facing. If back is pressed, she whips her opponent in the opposite direction.

Tactics[]

Regardless if Passion Press hit the opponent or was guarded, R. Mika can still execute this follow up. If successfully executed and performed, R. Mika can use Passion Rope Throw to regain positional advantage and inflict some big damage. The most common time to use this move is when her opponent is stunned, allowing R. Mika to hit them with the throw.

If she uses the forward variant in the middle of the stage, it makes her opponent stumble and fall face-first on the ground. However, the Passion Rope Throw is most effective to put her opponent in the corner. If R. Mika uses this move near the end walls of the stage or the backward variant in the middle of the stage, it causes them to rebound off the wall back towards her, This allows R. Mika to combo off of her opponent, keeping them in the corner or to setting up tricky resets to keep the opponent guessing with frame trap normals, normal throws or command throws to inflict large amounts of damage.

Trivia[]

  • This move is arguably based on a popular professional wrestling move called the Irish Whip.
  • Passion Rope Throw had many iterations based on the concept of creating a "ring" within the match. Concepts included having Yamato Nadeshiko and Yoko Harmageddon hold a rope for her, a series of bandages around Mika's wrists that let her spring towards the opponent, a wardrobe malfunction where the front of her costume gets caught, and an invisible ring offscreen.
