Description[]
- "Spin toward your opponent and grab them before sending them flying. Landing this move will raise your medal level, and the move's effect will change depending on that level."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing a quarter-circle forward motion and pressing punch, Manon performs a piqué turn toward her opponent and attempts to grab. Manon's Medal level determines what type of throw she performs on her opponent:
- Level 1 & 2 has Manon hooking her arm around her opponent as she holds their limb up high while sweeping her leg around her their front leg to pirouette behind him. With Manon on their backside, she kicks the opponent's leg off their feet with the same leg to gracefully toss them aside; causing them to land on their back.
- Level 3 & 4 has Manon kicking her leg forward to twirl and spin the opponent around her like a ballet partner. She then extends her front leg out before swinging it back in between her opponent's legs; sweeping them off of their feet and slamming them violently to the ground.
- Level 5 has Manon sweeping her opponent's legs into the air. She launches them to the sky, causing them to spin in midair. Manon then catches her upside-downed opponent's wrists and yanks them to the ground; causing them to land on the back of their neck.
By pressing kick as Manon spins toward the opponent, she performs the Grand Fouetté (グラン・フェッテ Guran Fu~ette?), transitioning her spin into a back kick. Holding the punch button results in her completing the turn without attempting to grab the opponent.
Tactics[]
- "A kick that can be performed from the forward lunge in Renversé. Useful in combos or as a way of checking opponents from mid-range."
- —Street Fighter 6
Each time Manon successfully connects with Renversé, it increases Manon's Medal level by 1; thus increasing the damage output of her next command grab. The medals earned through use of Renversé also powers up her command grab, and vice-versa. With 5 medals, Renversé is the most damaging moves in the game aside from Super Arts.
The attack is a hit-throw, meaning it can be blocked, but it can combo into and the throw portion is guaranteed if the attack lands. The power of the punch input used determines the startup of the attack, with the Jab version possessing a 22-frame startup, Strong a 25-frame startup, and Fierce a 29-frame startup. The Overdrive version has 25-frames of startup with some invincibility. The damage inflicted by the move varies depending on both the power of the button used as well as Manon’s current medal level.
Renversé is one of the most versatile moves in Manon’s arsenal, as it may be used as a combo ender, a combo extender, a feint or a tool for dealing with projectile zoning. In addition, successfully landing the move (without canceling into Grand Fouetté) increases Manon’s medal level by 1 (up to a maximum of 5), which increases the damage of her next Renversé as well as the damage of her Manège Doré command grab. Manon can easily combo into this move from Révérence, as well as from most medium normals that have benefitted from the additional frame advantage granted by the Punish Counter and Drive Rush mechanics.
To use as a combo extender, Manon must cancel the move into Grand Fouetté. This is only possible when canceling from a Révérence that is a affected by the Punish Counter or Drive Rush mechanics, or from a cancelable medium attack that is affected by both. If done successfully, Grand Fouetté places the opponent in a juggle state, allowing Manon to follow up the attack with Dégagé (for additional damage and corner carry) or with an Overdrive Rond-point which can in turn be followed up by another Renversé to increase her medal level.
All versions of the move grant some projectile invincibility, allowing Manon to move past projectiles as she spins towards her opponent and potentially punish them during their recovery. The Overdrive version of the move grants full upper body invincibility for a period of time, making it a useful tool for countering forward-moving attacks such as Ryu’s Solar Plexus Strike or Honda’s Sumo Headbutt.
As noted, Manon can also cancel the move after the initial spin but before any strike attacks come out by holding down the punch button used to execute the move, effectively turning it into a feint. This can be a useful tool for throwing off the rhythm of an opponent who expects a strike attack, for baiting out and punishing defensive options such as an invincible reversal or a Drive Impact, or to set up a blocking opponent for a grab.
Trivia[]
- Renversé has the literal French translation of "reverse".
- Grand Fouetté is also French for "big whip".
