Description[]

RollingSobat

Executed by pressing either forward or backward and Medium Kick (or pressing either forward or backward plus Medium Attack for Modern Control), the user turns back for a brief second and does a leaping back-spin kick forward or backward, depending which direction is pressed.

Tactics[]

This move has good range, and can hit some aerial foes (at certain angles) as a solid poke that can stuff jump-in attempts, if spaced correctly. When blocked however, the kicking animation is increased slightly and leaves the user vulnerable to counter-attack (or an Alpha Counter if timed right). The move is often considered an "approach", or move that helps Charlie/Guile attack foes directly, as well as to bait out low attacks.

In Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter V, the move can be used going forwards or backwards, interestingly, as opposed to just forward or stationary, which allows for some gimmicks. The user can use this move going backwards to retreat from the opponent, while throwing out an attack to keep them honest. In some cases, this move can set up the user's charged special attacks as they are moving backwards.

Trivia[]

  • Joe, a fighter in the original Street Fighter, uses a special attack of the same name.[1] However, it is functionally very different, animated as a spinning back kick.
