Description

Mai performing Ryuuenbu in Street Fighter 6.
- "Spin once before sending forth a fiery blaze. Easy to use as part of a combo when canceling from a normal attack, or to control space."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing a quarter-circle back motion and pressing punch (or pressing back and Special Attack for Modern Control), Mai spins and strikes the opponent with her belt, setting them ablaze.
Tactics
The strength of the punch button pressed determines the move's range, frame advantage, and damage output. Light Ryuuenbu has the shortest range and inflicts the most damage, but leaves Mai +3 on hit. This gives her a midrange attack she can use to fish for counter hits and link for an extended combo. Mai is also -4 on block, making the Light version the least punishable. If she hits the opponent with the tail-end of the attack, then her opponent cannot punish her; even on block.
The Medium version has a longer inflicts more damage and results in a knockdown on hit, but it is more punishable on block. Both the Medium and Heavy Ryuuenbu hits the opponent twice. However, the Heavy version launches the opponent high into the air, allowing Mai to follow up with another special move like Hishou Ryuuenjin or her Super Art. Unfortunately, the Medium and Heavy version can be avoided by crouching. The OD version hits the opponent three times and juggles them high into the air for more combo potential. She can also cancel into her Level 2 Super Art upon hitting the opponent with OD Ryuuenbu. However, it is -12 on block; making this version the most punishable.
Activating her Level 1 Super Art gives Mai five Flame stocks that amplifies her special moves and Super Arts. Ryuuenbu is one of the moves affected by this power-up. At the cost of one Flame stock, Mai receives a slight damage boost to this attack.
