The Sekiseiken is one of Akuma's unique attacks, introduced in Street Fighter V.

Street Fighter V Arcade-Stick-Right+Arcade-Button-HPunch

Description Edit

Executed by pressing forward and Heavy Punch, Akuma leaps into the air and performs a huge chop to the ground on the descent.

This move has a decent range. Because Akuma is in the air during the startup, he can leap over fireballs and still be in range to hit his opponent. Sekiseiken can also be used to start combos. It can be linked into Crouching Medium Punch, followed by one of Akuma's special attacks.

It is a good tool for footsies. Akuma can utilize shimmies to bait other opponents to tech his throws, thus opening them up with this move. Despite its appearance, the Sekiseiken is not an overhead attack, meaning that his opponent can block this move while crouching. However, it is -2 on block, making it difficult for his opponent to punish. If Sekiseiken is used as a meaty, then it puts Akuma at +2, making this a solid option for frametraps and maintaining pressure.
