Taking place during the events of ''[[Street Fighter (game)|Street Fighter I]]'', Ken first used Shoryureppa during the [[Pan-American Fighting Championship]] against a fellow karateka (who non-canonically turns out to be [[Allen Snider]] in ''[[Street Fighter EX]]''), he was able to counter [[Shoryuken]] by guarding then attacking Ken when left defenceless.<ref> However, in the final, it was different. The big man in the blue dogi, who is probably a karate practitioner, tightened his guard as if he had predicted the timing of the deciding technique, Shoryuken, and caught the falling defenseless Ken and slammed him into the ring. By the time the events of ''[[Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams|Street Fighter Alpha]]'' occurred only several months after, Ken begins his journey to find and challenge Ryu with his upgraded Shoryuken that now has the ability to engulf his hand with fiery ki-force, this being born from the individualism he sought (the storyline explanation being shifting ki into his fist during the uppercut in order to channel a fire elemental). Ken combines this with his Shoryureppa to completing it into three Shoryukens into one powerful technique. 

==Description==
Ken performs a series of multi-hitting [[Shoryuken]]s that sometimes light the opponent on fire, normally from a light "grounded" version to a stronger version per attack (normally two Shoryukens total). Higher levels of the move as well as certain versions in specific video games often involve three Shoryukens instead.

This move's very scheme also paves for a variety of similar looking attacks during its time, with one example being the [[Messatsu Gou Shouryuu]].

==Tactics==
In all games, the move generally works well as a combo ender. However, it has a long recovery time as a result of the fierce Shoryuken at the end, and is easily punished if whiffed or blocked.
