The Space Opera Symphony (スペースオペラシンフォニー Supeesu Opera Shinfonii?) is Rufus's first Ultra Combo in the Street Fighter IV series and returns as part of his Cross Art in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Description[]

Executed by pressing two quarter-circle forward motions and pressing all three punch buttons, Rufus will adopt an odd crane-style kung fu pose and launch a flurry of punches and kicks, each blow lifting the opponent higher into the air, while shouting the Ultra Combo's name. If this combo connects correctly, the last kick will launch his opponent further into the air, and Rufus throws upwards a dual-handed chi-infused palmstrike, hitting the opponent's back as they fall.

Space Opera Symphony is known for the ample opportunities Rufus has to combo into it. Some of the examples includes:

  • After a Target Combo.
  • After Fragrance Palm in the corner.
  • Galactic Tornado in the corner.
  • EX Galactic Tornado in the corner.
  • Successful jumping HK on an airborne opponent.
  • After a successful 3 hit MP Snake Strike in the corner.
  • After a meaty jumping HP.
  • Messiah or EX Messiah Kick LK Followup FADC.
  • (Zangief,Balrog and Vega only) after a HP Galactic Tornado at any position in the screen (Forward must be held, as not holding forward or holding back will make Rufus's horizontal movement slow down and will make his opponent get out of range).

As with many other Cross Arts, the main purpose of this attack is to cause major damage of at least 400 (depending on the partner). Rufus in general does not struggle to use his Cross Art due to ample ways to combo into it., albeit less reliable setups than his SFIV version despite his ability to Cancel into it. One of Rufus's main ways to combo into this Cross Art is off his standing hard kick, a maneuver that can do minimum of 490 damage with low Super damage partners. It is recommended Rufus players learn how much Juggle time his attacks provide their character to get maxim usage out of this.
