Description

SpartanBomb

Urien slamming Cammy into the ground using Spartan Bomb.

Executed by pressing Light Punch and Light Kick, (the throw command) near an opponent. Alex places his opponent's head in between his legs, putting them in a standing headscissors position. With his arms around their waist, Urien lifts his opponent on his shoulders and drops down to a seated position, slamming them back-first into the ground.

Tactics

This move an ideal way for Urien to reset the neutral game. It puts him in good range away from his opponent. After the throw, Urien can choose to throw out a meaty poke from mid-range or zone out his opponent with projectiles. One of the more effective ways to use this move is during his V-Trigger. Urien can keep his opponent on their heels by have them anticipate a frametrap combo with the Aegis Reflector. While they are defending against the mirror, Urien can open up his opponent by sneaking in a throw for decent damage. Additionally, the Spartan Bomb can launch his oppnent into the Aegis Reflector, thus allowing Urien to perform damaging combos or set up tricky resets and mix-ups.

Trivia

  • This move is arguably based on a popular professional wrestling move called the Powerbomb, invented by Lou Thesz.
    • More specifically, the Spartan Bomb bears more similarities to a similar variations of this wrestling move called the Sitout Powerbomb, which was popularized by other wrestlers such as Jushin Thunder Liger and Batista.
  • Urien is the only character in Street Fighter V to (currently) have his forward throw the same as his back throw.
    • This concept was originally done in previous versions where the characters' forward and back throws are the same animation, but facing the opposite direction. Since then, many characters have a separate name and animation for their forward and back throw.
