The Spiral DDT is one of Alex's special attacks, introduced in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.

Description[]

FlyingDDT

Alex driving Cammy's head into the ground using Swinging DDT.

Executed by performing a half-circle backward motion and pressing kick, Alex jumps forward at his opponent and grabs onto them by the neck, whipping around them as he does. He then shifts his weight back, pulling them down with him by the neck, head-first into the ground. In Street Fighter V, Alex gains access to this move during his second V-Trigger. The command inputs are Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick simultaneously.

The size of the initial jump is determined by the strength of the kick button pressed, with a light kick resulting in a short jump and a heavy kick resulting in a long one. The attack only connects with a standing opponent, but cannot be blocked.

Trivia[]

  • In keeping with Alex's wrestling background, the DDT is a move used in professional wrestling, first innovated (accidently, on some recounts) by Jake "The Snake" Roberts.
    • A standard DDT has the user start by grabbing their opponent in a headlock, opponent facing the user, and dropping to the floor. Alex, however, puts considerably more flair into his variation, spinning in midair (and lending the move its name) before sending the opponent downwards. Alex's Spiral DDT better resembles a jumping tornado DDT.
