Street Fighter is an upcoming live-action film based on Capcom's popular fighting game series of the same name. It is currently in development by Legendary and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film will be directed by Kitao Sakurai and was meant to be distributed by Sony Pictures before it was delayed indefinitely.[1]
On April 3, 2023, Legendary Entertainment announced that they had acquired the film and TV rights to the Street Fighter franchise. [2][3] As of April 27, 2023, YouTuber twins Danny and Michael Philippou of the channel RackaRacka were in talks to direct the film.[4] The film's official logo was revealed in May 2024.[5] On June 17, 2024, the twins dropped out of the movie as directors to focus on their next film, Bring Her Back.[6] On September 27, 2024, Kitao Sakurai was named as the new director for the film.[7][8] Originally set for release on March 20, 2026, the film was removed from the release schedule and announced to be delayed indefinitely in March 2025.[9][1] However, in September 2025, it was confirmed that the film would be distributed by Paramount Pictures as part of a three-year deal with Legendary, and will release in October 2026.[10]
