Description[]

Stribog
"Perform a forward swing with your staff to generate a barrier of Psycho Power. Effective for tacking on additional damage in combos or as a way to get your opponent away from you."
Street Fighter 6

Executed by performing a quarter-circle forward motion and pressing punch, JP spins around and creates a spike of Psycho Power in front of him.

Tactics[]

This move is mainly used to end combos and create separation from the opponent. The first hit counts as a strike, while the Psycho Powered spikes are considered projectiles. Each version of Stribog results in a knockdown and sends the opponent back to midscreen or toward the corner. The strength of the punch button pressed determines the move's startup, damage output, range, and possible follow-ups afterwards.

Light Stribog has 16-frame startup, making it the fastest version. However, it inflicts the least damage and the shortest range. It can be cancelled from most of JP's normals, making it the go-to version for Light confirm combos. After knocking the opponent back to midscreen, JP has enough time to set up a Departure to keep the opponent on their heels.

The Medium version functions similarly with the Light version. While it has a slower startup, it has more range and a higher damage output. This move also knocks the opponent back for JP to setup Departure or continue zoning out his opponent with Triglav. Both the Light and Medium version can be cancelled into his Level 3 Super Art. However, Medium Stribog can link into his Crouching Heavy Punch or Level 1 Super Art if his opponent is in the corner.

The Heavy version has the slowest startup, but inflicts more damage and travels almost 1/4 of the screen. Unlike the Light and Medium version, Heavy Stribog is safe on block. Additionally, hitting the opponent with this version results in a wall bounce; making Heavy Stribog a great combo extender. However, because of its lengthy startup, this version can be used either from a juggle combo off a Bylina or from hitting the opponent with a Heavy normal during a Drive Rush

The OD version has a faster startup than the Heavy version while inflicting the same damage. It also leads to a wall bounce. However, the opponent bounces off of the wall faster compared to Heavy Stribog, which limits the follow-ups JP can perform after. OD Stribog is also safe on block. Unlike the Heavy version, the OD version can be cancelled from JP's Heavy normals or from his Grom Strelka.

Trivia[]

  • Stribog (стрибог) is a god in Slavic mythology found in three East Slavic sources, whose cult may also have existed in Poland. The sources do not inform about the functions of the god, but nowadays he is most often interpreted as a wind deity who distributes wealth.
