Description[]
- "A strike unleashed after stepping backward. Can be cancelled into special moves."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by pressing Medium Punch and Medium Kick simultaneously, Luke takes a short step back, then jabs his opponent's midsection with his rear hand. This puts him in a unique counter state that can make him counter throws and command grabs. In Street Fighter 6, the input for this move is pressing back and Heavy Punch (or pressing backand Heavy Attack for Modern Control).
Tactics[]
This move works similar to Ryu's second V-Skill. It is a defensive tool that allows Luke to counter against his opponent command grabs or throw attempts. Suppressor has a 16-frame startup. From frames 7-11, Luke can counter throws or command grabs that triggers a slow-motion camera effect. Even if the opponent's throws comes out after the 11th frame, Luke is still invincible to throws during the latter startup and active frames. It is a good tool against grapplers or characters that mixes up their pressure with throws.
Luke follows up with a strike to the opponent that inflicts decent damage and allows him to build V-Meter. Luke is also -2 if the opponent blocks the strike. Hitting the opponent reduces the V-Skill's recovery frames. If Luke successfully counters a throw or command grab, the follow-up punch inflicts more damage to the opponent. It also builds even more V-Meter. Finally, Luke can cancel Suppressor into his special attacks such as Flash Knuckle or Rising Rocket. He can also cancel into V-Trigger to regain frame advantage or into his Critical Art for optimal damage.
In Street Fighter 6, Suppressor is a more orthodox attack, moving backwards during the startup animation with no invincibility. However, it offers a much stronger reward if it does punish an opponent's throw, giving Luke a Punish Counter that lets him link into a Crouching Heavy Punch, which can then lead to high damage Flash Knuckle combos. However, this also means that Suppressor is less effective at countering Command Grabs if they have a longer range than a standard throw.
