"A normal high school that loves freedom"

Taiyo High School, known as Taiyo Gakuen (太陽学園 Taiyō Gakuen?, lit. "Sunlight Academy") in Japan, is a school in Aoharu City in the Rival Schools series. The academy consists of a junior high school (middle school) and a high school. The latter division, Taiyo High School (太陽学園高等学校 Taiyō Gakuen Kōtō Gakkō?, "Taiyo Academy High School"), has about 720 students enrolled as of the events in the games. The average ratio of homeroom classes per grade is six-to-one (6:1), making Taiyo High a bit of a small-scale school.

The school's motto is "develop students in a free and easy-going school atmosphere". This educational policy aims to respect the individuality of each student and give them freedom in their school life, without being bound by school rules. As an example, while the school has uniforms, members do not raise too much of a fuss about wearing them. Aside from the entrance examinations that assess the students' individuality, interviews are also conducted that assess their excellence in extra-curricular activities.

燃やせ青春 輝く太陽
これぞ我らの太陽学園

(First verse)
In the morning breeze scented with young leaves
In the sunlight overflowing with hope
Nurture freedom and friendship
Stretch out your individuality and loving heart
Seek the truth for yourself
Dedicate your youth, sky-high
Burn your youth, with sunlight
This is our Taiyo Gakuen

(Second verse)
The fresh greenery of the mountains is sparkling
High in the windy valley the birds are gathering
Gather with your friends at the school
Perfect your own benevolence
The bonds you believe in are unwavering
Dedicate your youth, freely
Burn your youth, with sunlight
This is our Taiyo Gakuen

Trivia

  • The uniform worn by Hinata and the girls of Taiyo High School is similar to the one worn by Ibuki of Third Ninja School. This is because series producer Hideaki Itsuno liked the design and asked if he could use it.[6]
