Description
Tanden Storm in action.
Executed by performing two quarter-circle forward motions and pressing punch, Seth swirls his hands around in front of himself, generating a miniature black hole that sucks the opponent toward Seth (similar to the Tanden Engine), and finishes it off by blowing the opponent away if the move properly connects.
Its effective range (how close the opponent must be to be affected by the gravitational force) depends on the punch button used. However, unlike the Tanden Engine, the black hole is larger and does deal damage to the opponent when they come into contact with it. The attack lands a maximum of 21 hits if it hits at point blank range.
In OMEGA Mode, the move is now executed by performing two quarter-circle backward motions and pressing punch. The Tanden Storm also completely affects airborne opponents, dealing the full number of hits cleanly instead of juggling them. The final sequence of the move where the Tanden Engine blows away the opponent no longer occurs if they block the move.
Changes
The most notable change in the Street Fighter IV series was the move dealing a max damage of 360 in the first two iterations of the game. Its max damage was reduced to 320 as of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (by lowering the value of the last damage instance by 40).
Tactics
The attack is fairly easy to set up; it can be activated (with strict timing) immediately after a Tanden Engine, or on an opponent who attempts to jump in, but is best used in a combo, such as after a Sonic Boom. However, if timed incorrectly on an airborne opponent, the move can completely whiff, resulting in only one hit landing and the attack finishing while the opponent is still on the ground.
In OMEGA Mode, it is now possible to Super Cancel into the Tanden Storm from other moves such as the reworked Hyakuretsukyaku and Chariot Tackle.
