Description[]

Dan 20210203164538

Executed by pressing Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick simultaneously, Dan channels his ki, which powers up his Gadoken into the Haten Gadoken and his Koryuken into the Goh Koryuken. If Dan inputs the punch button within four frames of the last directional input for either his Gadoken or his Koryuken, Dan performs their further enhanced variants, turning Haten Gadoken into a multi-hitting fireball similar to the Shinku Gadoken, and Goh Koryuken gaining a second Koryuken performed similar to the Koryu Rekka.

Tactics[]

Under the effects of Tenchi Saikyo no Kata, Dan can perform enhanced versions of his two special moves. Haten Gadoken and Goh Koryuken function similar to their EX counterparts, with the former being plus on block and more damaging, and the latter being fully invincible and good for picking up juggles.

When performed precisely, both attacks gain unique properties: Haten Gadoken hits four times and travels for roughly half of the screen, while also allowing for a juggle afterwards. Goh Koryuken is fully invincible for 15 frames rather than 5 and starts up in only 3 frames, making it Dan's fastest move. It will also hit a total of 10 times. All special moves, regardless of input, take a third of Dan's remaining V-Gauge.

As Dan's more orthodox V-Trigger, Tenchi Saikyo no Kata lets Dan take the initiative and perform powerful combos. While the just frame inputs may require some practice, they allow Dan to deal rather significant damage off a single opening. Due to his potent V-Skills building V-Meter frequently, Dan can build up a full V-Trigger early on in a match and take the lead. The two bars also allow Dan to V-Reversal and V-Shift away more often, as Haoh Gadoken's single gauge means that Dan can only use it once off a full V-Gauge.

Trivia[]

  • While functionally similar to many other V-Triggers that amplify special moves, such as Haru Arashi and Dohatsu Shoten, Tenchi Saikyo no Kata also bears a resemblance to the MAX Mode mechanic in The King of Fighters XIV, in which characters gain access to EX moves at the cost of their remaining timer. Dan's activation pose is based off of Yuri Sakazaki's own MAX Mode pose throughout the series.
    • In contrast to many of Dan's references to SNK titles, the just-frame inputs used to amplify his special moves are an homage to Bandai Namco's Tekken series, where a similar input powers up the Wind God Fist to the Electric Wind God Fist. This concept was previously seen in Dan's OMEGA Mode-exclusive Funjinken.
