"South Town Hero. The Legendary Hungry Wolf. Fatal Fury."
—サウスタウンのヒーロー。伝説の飢えた狼。餓狼伝説。Terry: “You'll get to know true strength soon enough. Your adventure is just getting started, rookie!”
  • "Do I play games? Yeah, ever since I was a kid. Even now before a fight I'll get in some time to play."
    • (Answer: You don't get nervous for your fights?) "It's not so much about nerves. More like...I don't want to get too hyped before a fight, y'see. Playing games let me cool down. I guess it's become part of my routine of sorts. Plus, if I get wrecked in the game, then I can just blow off some steam in the fight! Haha."
    • (Answer: You must like games a lot!) "That's right. Single player, multiplayer, I love it all. But if you're gonna ask which one I like more between video games and fighting...Well...c'mon. Nothing beats having a good old-fashioned fight."
  • "Did I ever tell you about my partner? He may be little, but there's nothing he can't do. He watches all my matches and cheers me on...He also knows just the tunes to put on the stereo when things are getting exciting. He's got great instincts, too. He even knows his way around places we've never been before. And as a bonus, he even brings me fruits as a snack! One time he even managed to copy one of my moves! it was wild! I remembered all of that when I saw you practice. Oh, sorry. I forgot to tell you my partner's name! His name is Ukee. Ukee the monkey. He's not here right now, but he's very special to me. I wonder why you reminded me of him...I guess you've both just got that lovable air about you! Hahaha!" (A Memory of Terry: 1)
  • "I hit up fast food a lot during my trips. It's quick and easy to get, which is a big plus. Burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs...Oh, and you can't forget about the pizza! I'm not a picky eater, but if you ask me what I'd go with on any given day...Definitely going with a club sandwich. I like 'em big and juicy, with lots of meat and veggies!"
  • "You don't get to choose where you're going to fight. Take me for example. I haven't had too many fights in an actual ring, y'know? I've been challenged in a bullfight ring, on top of a raft floating down a river. Heck, even on a moving train! I'm guessing you've fought in a bunch of crazy places yourself, right?"
  • "Hm? You're wondering if maintaining my hair is a pain in the butt? Not really. I don't really do anything with it. It's been like this since forever. But now that you mention it, maybe I should change things up. Cut it down real short or something. You've got a pretty nice 'do too."
  • "How do you feel about fashion? Are you the type to try a bunch of different kinds of outfits? I'm not really one to. I got a bunch of different caps, but I usually wear pretty much the same thing other than that. This outfits basically my trademark at this point, y'know?"
  • "My fighting style? I guess you could call it a mixture of a bunch of different techniques. Most of it is based on the stuff I learned from the man who raised me. His name was Jeff Bogard. He learned the Hakkyokuseiken style from an old master named Tung Fu Rue. Like a lot of martial artists, he wanted to test just how strong he really was. So he set off on his own journey. But it was against Tung Fu Rue's rules to practice Hakkyokuseiken outside of the dojo. Even in emergencies, you weren't supposed to use any of the techniques you had learned. And so my pops tweaked things and made his own style. He didn't give his style a specific name. Just ended up calling it martial arts. And that's what he taught me. I was adopted, so Jeff wasn't my real father. But he trained me well when I was a kid. All of that still lives inside me. I may have tweaked stuff here and there to fit my own style... But I always say that the techniques I use are Jeff-style. (A Bond With Terry: 1)
  • "Hobbies other than fighting? I'm a big fan of video games. As for sports, I like basketball. Baller for life! I have a buddy named Duck King. He's one wild dancer. Every now and then we'll have a pick-up game, just one on one. Mano a mano. Wolf versus Duck. When it comes to fighting, I've got the edge... But on the courts, we're on equal footing. There's a lot of back and forth, unlike when we fight. It's a lot of fun. You said you had a buddy that's a fan of basketball, didn't you? You gotta introduce us, I'd love to take 'em on some time.
  • ""Yo, how's it hanging? Hope you're keeping up with your training regimen!"
    • (Answer: I'm keeping up!) "Nice! Good to hear. It may not be exciting, but consistency is the best way to get strong, y'know? My little brother's real good about that kind of thing. I could probably do with being a little better with that myself, haha!"
    • (Answer: Honestly, I'm not...) "Huh, that so. More the type to train when you're really feeling yourself, huh? There's this guy I know, Ken Masters. He's the same way. But that man has some serious talent. He makes things look so easy you'll wonder how he does it."
  • "But anyway, the most important thing to remember is that you have your own pace. Do things your way, at your speed. That's how I operate"
  • "Why do I fight? For me, there was one person that kickstarted everything. Geese Howard. He was the boss of the underworld, and the user of an ancient form of martial arts. And the man who murdered my father. Both Geese and my father Jeff studied under Tung Fu Rue. My father kept something called the Sacred Scrolls. Geese killed him in order to steal the secrets in those scrolls. After losing our dad, my brother Andy and I started training, We wanted to be ready to take down the man who did this to us whenever the chance presented itself. My brother and I carried that fury within us. But we didn't let it consume us completely. Now when I fight, I'm trying to find the true source of strength. And I can't keep count of the number of important friends I've made. Now fighting is what makes me feel alive!" (A Bond With Terry: 2)
  • "It's always good to have friends you can rely on. I'm always traveling here and there by myself, y'see. But when I get back home, the same crew's always there to greet me. It's reassuring, y'know. What about you? Do you have anyone like that in your life?
  • "When it comes to fighting, sometimes the losses will just pile up. Everyone's going to win and lose, whether you're talking about a fight or about life. You wouldn't believe how many times I got my butt kicked and ate the pavement. Too many times to remember. But that's what makes fighting really satisfying."
  • "You're also on a journey for strength, right? Tell me, how's it been?"
    • (Answer: I've met a lot of incredible people.) "Oooh, nice! Those chance encounters are the spice of any good journey if you ask me. I've had my share during my travels. I'm always hoping to come across some new person that's crazy strong, using moves I've never seen before. Which I guess means both you and I are after the same thing, huh? Those moments are what makes all the traveling worth it, am I right?"
    • (Answer: I've had some rough spots.) "That so. Well, I guess that comes with the territory. It wouldn't be right if I told you to ignore that feeling and to keep on trucking. What good is the journey if you're not doing it for yourself, y'know? So if that voice inside of you is saying to take a break, it's best to listen to it. Just think of it as charging your batteries until you're ready to hit the road again.
  • "Y'know, I don't think I've ever had a real job. It's hard to settle down for a long-term gig when you're traveling all year long. I've had couple odd jobs here and there though. It's the same for you, right? I heard you make a mean pizza. The way I see it, there's nothing wrong with trying your hand at a bunch of different stuff."
  • "I've fought a lot of tough people in my time. There have been time. There have been times when I've doubted that anyone stronger could exist. But...life's always ready to throw you a curveball, if you get my drift. Coming to Metro City has just given me more evidence of that. There's always someone with some new kind of strength."
  • "What is it about fighting that makes me so happy? Glad you asked! ...I don't really know. I used to think I'd stop once I beat the guy I was chasing down. But that didn't happen. Still throwing it down, as you can see. Maybe that's why I'm still on my journey. To find the answer to your question."
  • "Now, then... I do believe it's time for your final test. Are you ready?"(Pre-Master Fight)
  • "Hahaha! Nice one! You win. I don't think there's anything left to teach you. I'm not your teacher anymore. You're a fellow fighter, just like me!" (Mastery Achieved)
  • "I think I'll hang out and enjoy Pao Pao Cafe for a while longer. But after that... I wonder where I'll end up next."
  • "I once caught a blue marlin trolling in the ocean. It was a total beast, more than a thousand pounds. And it had some beastly power! It had to be stronger than some of the best fighters I've fought. When you think about the old days and the fishermen hooking those things on their little boats... Man...that's what a real fight is all about, huh?"
  • "I may travel around a bunch, but South Town is the place that I call home. It's a great spot. Especially in the summer. The beaches are something else. 'Course, that means that we don't get any snow when winter comes around. Me and some buds took a trip one time to try and enjoy an actual winter-y winter. All the regulars from the usual spot. You know, my best buds! We don't get to see snow much, so we ended up having a blast. Everyone ended up being pretty good on the ski slopes. Mary was doing flips and stuff without even breaking a sweat. Or bones. When we got back to South Town, we hit up our usual spot and talked about how much we hated the cold. Having friends and a place to call home...Sometimes, that's all you need." (A Bond With Terry: 3)
  • "Strength, huh... Have you ever thought about what's at the end of the road for you? Heh. I'm the same as you. Never was one to think things through too much. But lately I've been thinking... I've got a little one I've been looking after. A whole lot happened and I ended up taking in a kid who was orphaned. Don't misunderstand, I'm not doing anything special or anything with the kid. I just bring him along on my trips sometimes and teach him a bit about fighting here and there. And he's a much better cook now that I ever was. Haha! But anyways, one of these days my journey is eventually going to come to an end. I hope he can follow his own path and get even further in life than I could ever dream. Just like how I got here carrying all the things my father gave me. Though I have no plans to retire just yet! This is all long term future stuff here, haha!" (A Bond With Terry: 4)

The Legend of the wolf
  • "You got that look people get when they wanna ask about personal stuff. Haha, am I wrong? If you're curious about me, you can try talkin' to my fans that are around here. Though they have a habit of exaggerating some details.
  • George Azuma: "Terry took you as his student!? That's so freaking' rad, man! Hey! Fight me using his fighting style, will ya?
  • Gorge Azuma: "Dang, that stung! Well, thanks for the fight. Lemme tell ya a story to show my appreciation. AHEM. The story of Terry and Joe Higashi's fiery friendship all started in South Town, where the beatdowns are also hot! That's where they both joined the king of fighters tournament! Joe joined to prove his strength, Terry for revenge. Different reasons for joining, but their goal was the same. Victory! A Muay Thai champion and a man who had spent years and years training for revenge...And of course, they eventually had to face each other! Bet they were surprised at how strong the other guy was! Ever since the tournament, they've fought countless times. Terry says that Joe's the only one who's ever equaled him. Joe, on the other hand, always complains that Terry hogs the spotlight too much... But I think deep down, he recognizes him as his rival. Hot dang, what a story, right?
  • Marilyn: "Heya! Terry's student, right? Seeing as you're friends with him, I'll tell you anything you want. Anything. Like... Let's see... You ever heard about Terry's...relationship with Blue Mary? Hee hee hee... If you ask me, I think it's the shared pain of losing loved ones to the same man that's brought them closer. Everyone says they're just drinking buddies, but you can't fool my nose! Aaahh! Isn't that just so romantic!? ...But this is just my own speculation, okay? You better not say anything to either of them! The last thing I want to do is to screw up whatever's going on between them. Here, this'll stop any loose lips!"
  • Andres: "C'mon, tell me the truth... Terry and I do look like brothers, right? RIGHT?
    • (Answer: Yes) "Haha, right? I knew it! I spent a lot of time on this, so it's only natural I look like the real thing. I'm a dead ringer for Andy Bogard, and I'm practically a trove of knowledge when it comes to Terry Bogard! His birthday's on March 15, he's 6'0", and his blood type is O! He also loves fast food and...is kind of a slob. Man, aren't little quirks like that the best? And get this: he's never lost a fight to little Andy! Classic big brother stuff. How can you NOT look up to him? Hmm, what else can I tell you... Actually, it's probably better for you to see it for yourself. If you want to get a taste of the legend that is Terry, you definitely should play the Fatal Fury series."
The Dragon vs. The Wolf
  • "Hey, it sounds like you've met all sorts of people during your travels, huh? You meet a dude named Ryu?"
    • (Answer: You bet!) "Figures, I imagine anyone searching for more strength would cross paths with him eventually. I've fought him more than a few times. So how about this? Next time you see him... Try sparring him while using my fighting style. Think of it like you're passing along courtesy call from me to him, or something!"
  • Ryu: "Hm. You look like you have something to say. If so, I say let us speak with our fists."
  • Ryu: "The way you moved, I feel like I've seen it before... I see, a greeting from the Legendary Hungry Wolf himself. He certainly knows how to talk. If you could, please relay a message for me. Use my style and do battle with him. Can I count on you to do this for me? (Post-sparring)
  • Ryu: "Terry is also another talented fighter on a journey for strength. Perhaps being under his tutelage will open up yet another path for you to walk down."
  • "Hm? So you saw him, did you? Let's see what he had to say then, shall we!"
  • "Yup, you definitely learned some stuff from Ryu! But... Hmm... It's not that you're bad or anything, but now I have a hankering to fight the real deal. Could you take me to meet him? I can go whenever you're ready."
  • "Heya! It sounds like you remembered me, eh?"
  • Ryu: "The strength of your fists is something that's not so easily forgotten, Terry."
  • "Heh, well, I told my bud here to tell you hello in the only way I know how... But I felt that wouldn't satisfy you."
  • Ryu: "What a coincidence. I feel much the same way."
  • Avatar: "..."
  • "Well... We have our mutual friend here to thank for this reunion. What do you say we let (Avatar) get a bit of experience?"
  • Ryu: "Heh, that's fine by me."
  • "Okay rook, you get your pick! Who's it gonna be?"
  • Ryu: "Your fists are filled with heart, as always."
  • "You too, Ryu. Glad I got a chance to see you again. You and I walk down different paths. And maybe the strength we're both after takes a different form, but..."
  • Ryu: "Yes. Though different, our paths will certainly cross again."
  • "Heh. Exactly."
  • Ryu: (Ryu and Terry shake hands) "Until next time. Whenever that may be."
  • "You can bet on that! (Terry looks at Avatar) 'Bout time for us to head back, huh?"
Learning a new technique
  • "See how this bad girl fits ya. Don't worry, you'll get used to her soon enough."
  • "Now, here's the next move for you to learn! Make sure you give it a whirl"
  • "I was always super pumped whenever my dad would teach me a new move when I was a kid. How about you? Does this move pump you up?
  • "You're doing good, so I'm thinking it's time to teach you something new and fancy!"
  • "This is the last move I've got for you. Are you OK...to use it? Heh heh heh."
Master Assist
  • "Feel free to give me a holler whenever you're in a fight. I'll show you how things are done, sensei-style and all!"
  • "I'm ready to fight with ya whenever you need! Give me a call when you're throwing it down with a bunch of goons."
Sparring
  • "Alright, wanna go? Go where? you and your jokes. I like that. I mean, let's do some sparring."
  • "Ready to show me what you got?"
  • "Y'know what? I think it might be time for a fight. Let's see how much you've improved, alright?"
  • "Ready to rock 'n' roll?"
  • "So what's up? You didn't come just to chat, did you?"
  • "That's the right stuff, baby! Loved the way you turned it on there." (Post-sparring)
  • "You got some firepower there, I like it! Looks like all that teaching's paid off." (Post-sparring)
  • "Oh man, that was something wicked. I might have to go all out next time we face off!" (Post-sparring)
  • "Whew! Talk about putting in the work! You're becoming a real top class fighter." (Post-sparring)
  • "Ha! that was great! Come back anytime."
Gifts
  • "Oh. you're giving me something? Thanks, I appreciate it.
  • "You brought me something again? Thanks a whole bunch."
  • "You don't have to do this for me just 'cause I've been teaching you, you know?"
  • "Huh... Not sure exactly what this is. but thanks!"
  • "These are some nice kicks. Wonder if they'll fit... I wear through pairs like crazy, so I can always do with more. Thanks a lot! (Reaction to Canvas Shoes)
  • "Oh... I know I said I can always do with more, but you don't have to-Eh, why not. Thanks!" (Reaction to Canvas Shoes)
  • "Oh shoot! This is awesome! You don't know how many hours I logged playing this in the arcade. I still have the muscle memory and everything! How about it? You up for a match? Hahaha! Thanks for the shot of nostalgia." (Reaction to The Knights of Fantasia)

  • "My birthday? Huh, I guess I'll stop by my hold haunts and have a drink or thirty with someone if I know their name. ...I haven't changed? Hey, that's not a bad thing, right?"
