StreetFighter EP01

"The Adventure Begins" is the first episode in the first season of the Street Fighter TV series.

Synopsis[]

The episode begins in a warehouse where Guile is battling a fighter known as "The Crimson Crawdad", as the crowd boos him for going AWOL during a mission in Shadaloo. After defeating his opponent, Guile meets up with Escher, who tells him about a biological virus that will kill an infected person within 24 hours of instant contact, and that the team supposed to find the cure has gone missing, which is when Guile finds out that his ex-girlfriend, Lucinda Davila, is among them. He begins to assemble a team comprising of Chun-Li, Ryu and Ken. In the jungle, Ryu and Ken are hiking towards a temple until they stop over at a riverside house and find Guile there, who reluctantly decides to let them tag along. After meeting up with Chun-Li, the four find out that Lucinda and her team were abducted by none other than M. Bison.

Meanwhile, Blanka, who had sealed himself away in an ancient temple after Bison mutated him, sees the temple's natives being kidnapped and breaks free. Later, Bison welcomes his hostages and explains that the reason why he captured them is because he wants the cure for the virus. When he explains that they need people as test subjects, he puts the natives into a room with a bomb containing the virus, and tells the doctors that if they don't find a cure before sunrise, the bomb will explode and infect all of the natives with the virus. Meanwhile, Guile gets attacked by Blanka, who then stops and explains that he left the temple he was at to go looking for the natives, who were like brothers to him. Guile tells him that Bison was the one who took them. Blanka agrees to come along with him, but only until the natives are safe.

Meanwhile at Bison's base camp, he inspects Lucinda's work, but she tells him to back off. Back in the jungle, Chun-Li and Guile find out that Ryu and Ken are gone; they have sneaked off to the temple that Blanka had mentioned earlier, but while there, Ryu suddenly collapses, having caught the virus from an infected pig. Guile, Chun-Li and Blanka get into the base, fight off Bison's guards and rescue the doctors. Upon seeing this, Bison grabs Lucinda and destroys the experiment; however, Blanka intercepts Bison and lunges at him. Blanka then rescues the natives, but the bomb goes off before he can escape. Guile finally gets to Lucinda and they talk, but after finding out that Blanka has become infected with the virus, Guile swears revenge and goes after Bison, only for him to escape in a helicopter. Ken, who has stolen a tank from Bison's men, rescues Guile and tells him that Ryu has fallen ill.

After getting help, they find out that Blanka's mutated blood is producing antibodies that are fighting off the virus, meaning that they've found the cure. Ryu and all of the virus's victims are saved, and Guile asks Blanka to think about joining the team, despite still being upset about what happened to him. Ryu and Ken arrive and the former thanks the team for what they've done. Blanka agrees to join them, the episode ending with him discussing that Guile still owes him money from their time in Mindanao.

Trivia[]

  • In this episode, Guile declines Escher's offering of a license for firearms, claiming "Guns are for wimps!". This is rather contradictory of his portrayal in the movie (which this series derived many of its elements from), where he was prominently seen using pistols and sub-machine guns alongside his martial arts skills.
